Ascot Win 6 Preview | 25th July

13.10pm (Dentakay EBF Crocker Bulteel ‘Confined’ Maiden Stakes)

Andrew Balding has his team in good order so IZUBA could go well on debut, while NEVER ENOUGH finished a good second first time out and is sure to be popular. Other newcomers CRAZEE IN HAVANA and PERFECT STRIKE could also be of interest, along with Nottingham fourth, TUMISHI. Let’s try to get through the first leg of the jackpot!

Tips: IZUBA, NEVER ENOUGH, CRAZEE IN HAVANA, PERFECT STRIKE & TUMISHI

13.45pm (Princess Margaret Japan Cup Stakes)

This is an extremely competitive race. ALTA REGINA was an impressive winner on debut at Lingfield and did her best work late on when sixth in the Queen Mary at the Royal Meeting. I can see her going well, while VELOZEE cannot be ruled out being her connections’ only runner and ride on the card. DARK ISSUE and MISS KODI are others to consider in this wide-open second race on the card.

Tips: ALTA REGINA, VELOZEE, DARK ISSUE & MISS KODI

14.20pm (Longines Valiant Stakes)

TOULEEN will prove hard to beat if able to repeat her second to Precise in the Coronation Stakes but the latter was beaten easily by Blue Bolt at Newmarket last time out and KON TIKI pushed Blue Bolt close at Goodwood on her penultimate outing. With that in mind, I feel as though Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge is the biggest threat. I think the winner will come from one of these two so both are included on our quest for the jackpot.

Tips: TOULEEN & KON TIKI

14.55pm (Moet & Chandon International Handicap)

A really competitive handicap but EXTREMELY ZAIN made it three wins from three starts with an easy victory at York and I doubt an 8lb higher mark will prevent another bold bid, so he’s one to definitely include. AKKADIAN THUNDER is a horse that needs a lot of luck in-running but has become really well handicapped and his handler has appointed Jamie Spencer for the ride, which makes him of interest. The consistent BACK IN BLACK should be thereabouts.

Tips: EXTREMELY ZAIN, AKKADIAN THUNDER & BACK IN BLACK

15.35pm (King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes)

The King George looks like it is going to be a belter. Calandagan was an impressive winner twelve months ago, but for an each-way bet-to-nothing, MASQUERADE BALL could give the defending champion the most to think about. He was narrowly denied by the French raider in the 2025 Japan Cup and was last seen running well behind the legendary Romantic Warrior. He will be my only pick in the main event.

Tips: MASQUERADE BALL

16.10pm (Ascot Shop Handicap)

MASTERINTHEWOODS must enter calculations given the form he’s in of late. He pushed a subsequent Listed winner close at Epsom last July and backed up his penultimate win at Salisbury with a solid second at Goodwood last month. There’s no reason why he can’t go well, with the same applied to AKHO MAZZNA, the mount of William Buick.

Tips: MASTERINTHEWOODS & AKHO MEZZNA
