Ascot Win 6 Preview | 1st May

14.00 Ascot Shop Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes

ADAAY OF SCARLETT was an easy winner on debut at Newmarket and must have every chance of remaining unbeaten with so much more to come. He looks like a potentially smart two-year-old, though DANCE A JIG and BEAR AFFAIR, who fought out the finish at Doncaster first-time-out, must be given the utmost respect.

Tips: ADAAY OF SCARLETT, DANCE A JIG & BEAR AFFAIR

14.35 Longines Sagaro Stakes (Group 3)

SWEET WILLIAM will prove hard to beat in spite of knowing he will improve for the return. He’s a remarkable, consistent stayer, and was last seen finishing a good second in a Group 1 on Champions Day over track and trip. That is the best form on offer, so he’s a major player on his reappearance. I think his class will see him through this event. CABALLO DE MAR went close at Meydan last time out and is the obvious danger but he will need to step up to defeat the market leader.

Tips: SWEET WILLIAM & CABALLO DE MAR

15.10 Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes (Registered As The Pavilion Stakes) (Group 3)

BRUSSELS (second) and COPPULL (third) were just behind Wise Approach in a Group 1 at Newmarket last season and I can see them turning the tables under these better terms. Both have a good record when fresh and should have more to offer this season, so they are fancied to get this favourite beaten.

Tips: BRUSSELS & COPPULL

15.45 Memberships At Ascot Paradise Stakes (Listed)

HOLLOWAY BOY is a course winner and shaped well on all three starts in Meydan this year, including when third in Group 1 and Group 2 races the last two times. He is down in grade with William Buick retained, so he’s one of my strongest fancies on the card. CHANCELLOR was a little disappointing last time out but should bounce back and has a squeak.

Tips: HOLLOWAY BOY & CHANCELLOR

16.20 Naas Racecourse Handicap

MESAAFI came very close to winning a much stronger event over C&D last July off an 8lb higher mark and a reproduction of that effort in the back of an encouraging return at Lingfield ought to see him in the shake-up. COMBUSTION has won seven of his last 10 starts and ran a solid race when second last time out. I think he’s another to consider, especially with the setup likely to see him to better effect.

Tips: MESAAFI & COMBUSTION

16.55 Darley British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes

SO REGAL beat LYRICS OF LIFE when the pair finished first and second at Newmarket and it will be interesting to see if they can deliver a similar battle. The former is the most likely winner of this event though being the least exposed of the duo.

Tips: SO REGAL & LYRICS OF LIFE
