Ascot Place 6 Preview | 22nd November

12.25 Restorations UK Novices’ Hurdle

PERCY SHELLEY has been a prolific winner on the Flat and won her first two starts over hurdles before going down narrowly at Cheltenham when last seen. The visor goes back on and Harry Cobden takes the ride. He should remain competitive, while a case can be made for ETNA BLANCO and OFF THE JURY, who bring significant potential to the table.

Tips: PERCY SHELLEY, ETNA BLANCO & OFF THE JURY

BOBBI WITH AN I scored at the first time of asking over hurdles at Wincanton in January and put aside a disappointing effort at Doncaster with an eye-catching fourth at Exeter on her return. With more to offer over this longer distance, she looks a key player. The hat-trick seeking SPIT SPOT and returning PRESENTING DOY are others to note in a difficult contest.

Tips: BOBBI WITH AN I, SPIT SPOT & PRESENTING DOY

13.30 Ladbrokes 1965 Chase (Grade 2)

GIDLEIGH PARK has had his issues but he’s a top-class horse when on-song and he proved that to be the case by destroying Aintree Grade 1 winner Caldwell Potter at Windsor in a Grade 2 event. Harry Fry’s star chaser rounded off his campaign with a second in a Grade 1 at Aintree and is fancied to win this on his return. Just as a backup, JANGO BAIE will be played as cover.

Tips: GIDLEIGH PARK & JANGO BAIE

14.05 Windsor Horse Rangers Berkshire National Handicap Chase

MY SILVER LINING had a fruitful 2022/2023 campaign, which included a determined win in the Classic Chase at Warwick off a 2lb higher mark. Her form was in and out last season, but her remote fourth in the Midlands National wasn’t a bad effort. I can see her taking a step forward from his comeback run at Fontwell. I’ll also add in the well handicapped SNIPE, while REGARDE, ROCK MY WAY and LARGY POET cannot be dismissed.

Tips: MY SILVER LINING, SNIPE, REGARDE, ROCK MY WAY & LARGY POET

14.40 Ladbrokes Ascot Hurdle (Grade 2)

WODHOOH went down fighting in second when losing her unbeaten record to Lossiemouth at Aintree and is already recognised as being one of the main players for the Mares’ Hurdle in March at Cheltenham. Her allowance is a massive advantage on her return given she’s in receipt of weight all round and has plenty more to offer given she’s only five. I think she’s a worthy favourite and will prove hard to beat.

Tips: WODHOOH

15.15 Castello Banfi Hurst Park Handicap Chase

The Tizzard’s and Brendan Powell continue to fire in winners and that bodes well for the grade-dropping. JPR ONE. Last season’s Haldon Gold Cup winner could only finish third in that race on his reappearance but will be fitter and he’s going to be equipped with first-time cheekpieces. If they have a positive effect, then surely this classy horse is going to run well. Last year’s winner MARTATOR is feared most, ahead of KOTMASK and GABRIEL’S GETAWAY.

Tips: JPR ONE, MARTATOR, KOTMASK & GABRIEL’S GETAWAY
