Andrew Francis’ Asian Handicap Pick 20 Syndicate Preview

Our Asian Handicap Pick 20 kicks off on Friday evening with Roma vs Torino and Andrew Francis has previewed the pool with a Syndicate available. He discusses some of his selections below…

Roma v Torino

Roma’s form coming into the game looks excellent, winning 4 of their last 5 in Serie A, including some great wins against Udinese and Napoli. Couple that with the emergence of Cengiz Under who has netted 6 in his last 6 games and Roma look good value here for the handicap win.

Torino on the other hand come into the game off the back of two defeats which look to have ended their hopes of European qualification this season and their chances of taking something from this game look even bleaker with both Niang and Rincon both doubts

Key Stats
• Roma have been in good form in front of goal, scoring 1.63 goals per game compared to Torino who have scored 1.38 goals per games.
• Defensively Roma look even stronger, conceding just 0.93 goals per game whilst Torino look a lot weaker at the back, conceding 1.27 goals per game.

Result

This -0.5 handicap looks very generous to Roma and they should have more than enough to find the win they need for this selection to be correct.

Man United v Liverpool

Manchester United will be buoyed by the way they came back to win at Crystal Palace on Monday but there are still plenty of question marks about results and performance this season for Mourinho to answer.

Liverpool on the other hand come into the fixture having just qualified for the next round of the Champions League with an uncharacteristically professional performance that saw them play out a 0-0 draw with Porto.

Liverpool will have the slight psychological edge coming into the game and I can see them picking up at least a point at Old Trafford this time around.

Key Stats
• Man United might not be as bad in front of goal as you’d initially expect, scoring 1.97 goals per game this season but this is dwarved by Liverpool who have netted 2.31 goals per game.
• The swing goes the other way when we look at goals conceded though with Man United conceding just 0.76 gpg this season whereas Liverpool have conceded 1.14gpg with their defence still looking suspect.

Result

Liverpool will look to get back to their ‘heavy metal’ style that has served them so well this season and this could be bad news for Man United who could well struggle to find the win they need.

Asian Handicap Pick 20

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

Anyone who has watched either of these teams recently will know that this should be a lot closer than you’d initially expect. Chelsea have looked out of sorts for a while, most recently struggling to even muster a shot against Manchester City and slipping out of the top four.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace were very unlucky against Man United on Monday night and should’ve taken at least a point. This has been a theme for a while at Selhurst Park but the South London club have been able to claw themselves closer and close to safety and will have plenty of belief here.

Key Stats
• Whilst initially the stats strongly side with Chelsea, who have scored 52 goals this season compared to Crystal Palace, with 28 goals if you look a little deeper (using both Opta and Stratagem as sources) you can see that the quality of chances created by Palace are much higher.
• On the other hand the level of chances that Crystal Palace are conceding is much higher than their West London counterparts and they’ve conceded 46 goals so far with Chelsea conceding just 24.

Result

Chelsea don’t quite look themselves at the moment and with the handicap being 1.5 I can see Crystal Palace keeping within one goal of The Blues, if not taking a point off them.

Malaga v Barcelona

This looks to be fairly cut and dry with Malaga currently sitting bottom of La Liga with just 13 points collected all season and looking nailed on to be relegated.

Barcelona, on the other hand, took another step towards claiming the La Liga title with a win over Atletico last weekend that gave them a 8 point lead at the top with just 11 games left to play.

Key Stats
• Malaga have had an awful season and have only found the net 16 times in 27 games this season. The other end of the spectrum sees Barcelona averaging 2.59 goals per game with 70 goals in the same time period.
• Interestingly, Barcelona’s goals conceded mirrors Malaga’s goals scored with just 16 goals making it past Ter Stegen in the Barcelona goal whilst Malaga have shipped 43 goals this season, averaging 1.59 goals per game.

Result

This looks to be a case of how many Barcelona will win by and, despite some indifferent results recently, I fancy them to beat the -1.5 handicap with relative ease.
