COSMOS RAJ has five course wins in the book, with the last of those coming off a mark of 77 last year in a stronger event. Even after returning to winning ways last time out, the eight-year-old remains 11lb lower than when he last won at this venue, so he remains well handicapped and can go close.

I’ll take a chance on AMERICAN PSYCHO, who has yet to replicate his debut second, but must be considered at this level. He has more to come and is Archie Watson’s only representative on the card. Hopefully he can put his bags of experience to good use and run a big race.

STAR PEOPLE is really progressive and has gone really close on all of his last three starts, placing each time and being narrowly beaten in all of those outings. If the retained headgear from when a nose-second at Newcastle works again, then a first win could be firmly on the cards.

YES I’M MALI has continued to advance his form for this stable and ran a huge race when second in a much hotter event at Thirsk last time out. He is a pound lower in this much easier race, so a repeat showing from last time ought to be enough to see him open his account for this stable.

16.13 Ripon Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse Handicap (Div 2)

MISTER SOX won four times last year, including two over track and trip and ran a good race when fifth in a large-field event over C&D last time out. With the blinkers replacing the cheekpieces, this course specialist looks capable of adding to his fine record at the venue.
