Newmarket Place 6 Preview | 7th August
17.27 Zyn Frontrunner EBF Newcomers’ ‘Confined’ Maiden Stakes
DESERT CASTLE and FARASAN should be able to make a good start to their careers. Both of them look the part on paper and represent very good stables that are prone to having a winner or two with newcomers. One of them at the very least should go very well.
Tips: DESERT CASTLE & FARASAN
18.02 Zyn Pole Position Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
OH SWEET ADARE could be another smart prospect to emerge from the Charlie Appleby team. She has a fantastic pedigree and her handler does well with newcomers, so she’s voted to come out on top.
Tips: OH SWEET ADARE
18.37 Carling Novice Stakes
This race should be informative, with narrow preference for TAWAKOL. He was an impressive winner on debut at Nottingham and looks sure to progress, so he’s fancied to extend his unbeaten record before stepping up in class.
Tips: TAWAKOL
19.12 Molson Coors Beverage Company Handicap
HAVANA BLUE has posted two good efforts the last two times, finishing runner-up at Ascot, and should be capable of winning this event. His mark has been left unchanged for his latest narrow defeat, so he can defy his big weight, with James Doyle booked to ride.
Tips: HAVANA BLUE
19.47 Rekorderlig Fillies’ Handicap
ARETI had been largely consistent prior to successfully getting off the mark at Redcar when last seen. This mark of 75 doesn’t look beyond her, while ROGUE CITATION seemed unlucky last time out and could make amends with improvement to come.
Tips: ARETI & ROGUE CITATION
20.22 Aspall Handicap
The hat-trick seeking Shimmering Sands must be respected but conceding 8lb to the younger LUCKY HERO might prove a tough task. David O’Meara’s charge won easily at Redcar last time out and escapes a penalty, so he’s the one I’ll side with under Billy Loughnane.
Tips: LUCKY HERO
