HAVANA HURRICANE has mostly been competing in stronger races than this and should appreciate this lower level. His penultimate third in a Listed event is strong, as is his win at Royal Ascot last year. With the best form on offer, this experienced three-year-old can make his class count in the opener.

IT DUNT MARRA shaped really nicely when second on debut at Goodwood and normal improvement must give him every chance of going one better. RONSON backed up his previous win at Beverley with a good second at the same venue last time out. He’s another with leading credentials.

GYMBAAZY did very well to overcome traffic problems to score on debut here and now has a good chance to prove that win to be no fluke. I think he could turn out to very smart, so Owen Burrow’s charge can remain unbeaten.

PERSICA is a solid performer and has run well on all three outings this year, including when going close at Epsom on his penultimate start. He is expected to be in the thick-end of the action, while GLACIUS ran a food race when third in the Hampton Court and is another worthy of a second look. He is open to further progress.

I like the chances of LAZY GRIFF. Second in last year’s Epsom Derby and third in the Irish Derby, the four-year-old produced a solid first-time-out effort at Sandown behind Sweet William and Dubai Future and is dropped in class with fitness now assured. The class act can gain a much-deserved success.

MARNIER should go well. He turned in a solid effort when third over track and trip last time out and should figure off a pound lower mark. SO ALEX has only found one too good on his two starts this year and is another to consider in this tricky little event.
