Epsom Derby Place 6 Preview | 5th June
13.30 Win With Zyn 3yo ‘Dash’ Handicap
SHE’S GOT A BROTHER won her first couple of starts on the all-weather and ran a massive race on turf debut when fourth of 17 in a big-field handicap at York. She acquitted herself very well considering she lacked experience for a race like that and is bound to have more to come. RILEY ROCKS has won two of his four outings and could make an impact.
Tips: SHE’S GOT A BROTHER & RILEY ROCKS
14.05 Oddschecker British EBF Woodcote Stakes
HICKORY LAD has been solid on all three starts to date, winning once and finishing second in the other two. He looks sure to be thereabouts, while impressive York debutant winner POSSESSIVE could be involved with more to come. His connections are having a season to remember.
Tips: HICKORY LAD & POSSESSIVE
14.40 Betfred Diomed Stakes (Group 3)
Persica beat Ice Max (second) and ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT (fourth) in this race last year but I’m interested in the latter, who wasn’t far behind the pair and could bridge the gap. He has deliberately been kept fresh for this and will get his favoured conditions. PERSICA and CHANCELLOR are played as cover.
Tips: ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT, PERSICA & CHANCELLOR
15.15 Betfred ‘Nifty 50’ Handicap
The Harry Charlton-trained HAND OF GOD was a very good winner at Newbury last time out and must be considered a major player. He has only been raised 5lb for winning that race with so much in hand. I like his chances, while AMMES and SALLAAL are others to enter the mix.
Tips: HAND OF GOD, AMMES & SALLAAL
16.00 Betfred Oaks (Fillies’ Group 1)
I’m really sweet on LEGACY LINK in the Oaks. I just get the feeling she has more scope than Amelia Earhart and was so impressive in the Musidora at York last time out, beating a horse who is held in high regard. She will have come on plenty for that return to action and looks ready to make her mark in the feature event.
Tips: LEGACY LINK
16.40 HKJC World Pool Handicap
MR SWIVELL is an interesting possible runner. I know he’s been below form the last two times but his second at Ascot back in September is strong form and he’s back on that same mark. It is also worth noting that he has a really good record over a mile, with figures reading 4210130211212. CELEBORN is selected as the back-up option.
Tips: MR SWIVELL & CELEBORN
