Goodwood Place 6 Preview | 22nd May

13.57 Soil Association 80th Anniversary Conditions Stakes

Given all three won last-time-out, it’s hard to rule out each of them. NIGHT IN VEGAS did it well on debut at Ascot, while SHADOW KING battled to victory at Kempton. LOVE IS defied big odds to score at Windsor and has every chance of proving that win to be no fluke. One of them will win, but I don’t know which one!

Tips: NIGHT IN VEGAS, SHADOW KING & LOVE IS

14.32 British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes

LAZURITE might be able to make it second time lucky for Richard Hughes. She finished a close-up second in what looked like a nice race on debut at Newmarket. However, BABZINI would have finished a lot closer to the smart Lover Girl (form boosted since) when third on debut with a clear passage and should be able to take a large step forward. I can see her going close to landing this event with a repeat showing and more to come.

Tips: LAZURITE & BABZINI

15.07 Track Radio Handicap

SAX APPEAL should be able to make a serious impact having run well for a long way when sixth in the Chester Plate last time out. There’s a chance he will be given a soft lead, while CAPRELO chased home a useful stayer at Kempton when last seen and is another worth consideration despite making his seasonal debut.

Tips: SAX APPEAL & CAPRELO

15.42 British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies’ Handicap

With no weight on her back, VENETIA might be able to follow up her latest Ascot success. She showed a tenacious attitude off the front end to win by more than a length and has only gone up 4lb as a result. Ralph Beckett’s charge has plenty more to come and should at the very least prove hard to keep out of the frame. I like her chances.

Tips: VENETIA

16.17 Fitzdares Festival Stakes (Listed)

CERTAIN LAD has been a fantastic servant over the years, and although he would ideally prefer softer ground, he has the class to make an impact. ICE MAX and BOILING POINT both have fitness on their side and both ran with credit in Group races when last seen. It would come as no surprise to see one of them come out on top.

Tips: CERTAIN LAD, ICE MAX & BOILING POINT

16.52 Edward Bulmer Natural Paint Handicap

FOUETTÉ ought to find this easier than when sixth in a Listed event last time out. This will only be her fifth start on the grass, so don’t be surprised to see her thereabouts. OLIVER SHOW has become dangerously well handicapped and is another dropping in grade. He’s been unlucky on a few occasions off stiffer marks in stronger company, so if he’s on his best behaviour, I can see him going well at this level. He is also back on his last winning mark, so there’s plenty to like.

Tips: FOUETTÉ & OLIVER SHOW
