York Place 6 Preview | 13th May
13.45 British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes
Guesswork involved in the opener but CUT A DASH hails from a yard that does predominantly well with newcomers and he’s really well-bred, so could be one to consider. FANTASY FORCE also looks the part on paper and is selected as the back-up option.
Tips: CUT A DASH & FANTASY FORCE
14.20 Sky Bet Race To The Ebor Jorvik Handicap
David O’Meara could hold the key to this competitive event.
STRESSFREE is hugely consistent and ran well in plenty of top-class handicaps last term, including when fourth in last year’s Ebor Handicap at this course off this mark. He looked really unlucky not to score under a big weight on his reappearance at Ripon when second and is fancied to go close with fitness on his side.
Stablemate PRINCE OF THE SEAS should improve from his return at Ripon and his win at Goodwood last season reads well, so despite Danny Tudhope opting for the former, don’t be shocked to see this four-year-old get involved at bigger odds.
Tips: STRESSFREE & PRINCE OF THE SEASON
14.55 Churchill Tyres Handicap
This is a red-hot renewal of a typically-competitive race. DESERT FALCON has undergone wind surgery since a neck-second in the Ayr Gold Cup and improved with every start last season.
He should be thereabouts, while WICKET KEEPER caught the eye last time out and should not be taken lightly as an outsider.
I also like PILGRIM, who has plenty of smart course form (C&D winner) and was a tidy winner of Musselburgh’s Sprint Cup last month. I think he’s a major contender.
Tips: DESERT FALCON, WICKET KEEPER & PILGRIM
15.30 Go Local Stores Minster Stakes (Group 2)
I am strong on the chances of TIME FOR SANDALS, who should come on plenty from her comeback run at Newbury. Last year’s Commonwealth Cup winner will be getting weight from all opposition and Ryan Moore has been retained for the ride. Being a Group 1 winner, with course form to her name, she looks poised to take this event, granted a clear passage.
Tips: TIME FOR SANDALS
16.05 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3)
The unbeaten FELICITAS proved her debut success to be no fluke when an easy winner at Sandown on her return last month. This is another step up in grade but she’s well with her place in the field and could be up to the task. I do think LEGACY LINK will be hard to beat though, having finished a good fourth in a Group 1 event when last seen.
Tips: FELICITAS & LEGACY LINK
16.40 Conundrum HR Consulting Handicap
AL NAJASHI made it five wins on the bounce when a comfortable winner on all-weather championship finals day at Newcastle and I see no reason why he can’t go close to extending his winning run back on the grass. HASBRO MARKET only found one too good on handicap debut at Wetherby and is another to note.
Tips: AL NAJASHI & HASBRO MARKET
