Hereford Place 6 Preview | 25th March
14.30 Hereford Easter Monday Family Raceday Handicap Chase
CHIEF BLACK ROBE should be all-the-better from his run over hurdles at Taunton last month and has a good chance back over the bigger obstacles. He only found one too good on his last go in this sphere and finds himself 17lb below his last winning mark. The 10-year-old must enter the reckoning with Fern O’Brien offsetting a further 5lb. JACK DOYEN is another to consider.
Tips: CHIEF BLACK ROBE & JACK DOYEN
15.00 CB Security & Protection Services Handicap Chase
BLACKIJO DAGROSTIS probably would have won at Taunton last time out but for a bad mistake at the last fence when in front. He’s gone up 5lb as a result, but there’s more to offer, and I fancy him to go well. CHESTNUT PETE has a lot of course form in the book off higher marks and has a fine opportunity to strike for the first time since March here last year.
Tips: BLACKIJO DAGROSTIS & CHESTNUT PETE
15.30 Hereford Quarries Mares’ ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle
A difficult race to assess so it’s possible newcomer L’AVENTARA could be up to making a winning start under rules for the Tim Vaughan team. JOHNNY’S BELLE shaped quite well when third on debut at Chepstow and starts out in this sphere with a chance to get off the mark. Callum Pritchard takes the ride on this occasion.
Tips: L’AVENTARA & JOHNNY’S BELLE
16.00 Sunshine Radio Novices’ Handicap Hurdle
BEST NIGHT gained a second win in this sphere when getting up late on at Huntingdon two weeks ago and a 4lb rise shouldn’t prevent her from going in again. She is undoubtedly the one to beat, though MADAME DE LABRUNIE could be the one to pick up the pieces if the former underperforms.
Tips: BEST NIGHT
16.30 Spa Motors Mares’ Handicap Hurdle
LAND GIRL’S LUCK is only 3lb above her last winning mark and ran really well when second at this venue last time out. She looks poised to be thereabouts, while BROADWAY HONEY isn’t out of this at a big price.
MIDNIGHT GINGER is 17lb lower than when she last got her head in front and must be considered a danger given her back-class at a much higher level. She has become so well-treated and this is a very winnable contest. I really like her chances.
Tips: LAND GIRL’S LUCK, BROADWAY HONEY & MIDNIGHT GINGER
17.05 Richard Layton Charity Day 16th April NH Flat Race
ONE KNIGHT hasn’t been seen since winning at Southwell in December of 2024 but he is likely to be prepared for this return and must enter calculations. However, debutant LEGEND D’AIRY represents a stable firing on all cylinders and is Ben Pauling’s only runner on the card. He could easily be up to making a winning start.
Tips: ONE KNIGHT & LEGEND D’AIRY
