Newbury Place 6 Preview | 21st March
13.15 Castle Windows Newbury Anniversary Novices’ Hurdle
The opener presents KOCKTAIL BLEU with a fine opportunity to score for the first time since his hurdles debut. Last seen finishing runner-up in a Grade 2 event at Kempton, the six-year-old will appreciate the drop in grade and can therefore see off some promising types.
Tips: KOCKTAIL BLEU

FRESH PERSPECTIVE has won three of his six starts and finished a good third in a hot Listed event on his penultimate outing that has worked out extremely well (split Soldier Reeves and Sober Glory). Back down in class following his run at Huntingdon, I think he’s a major player.
Tips: FRESH PERSPECTIVE

HERCULE DU SEUIL has some seriously class back-form when formerly trained by Willie Mullins and didn’t shape too badly at Doncaster last time out. He has a big weight to carry but he has lots of graded form to his name and might be able to make his class count.
Tips: HERCULE DU SEUIL

The step up in trip could be a huge benefit for CHARISMA CAT. She’s only finished out of the top two once in all career starts and has made a solid start to her hurdles career. She finished second on her sole previous course outing in Listed company and should have plenty more to come. Given how solid she is, I’m expecting her to make a bold bid to defy the welter burden.
Tips: CHARISMA CAT

DIAMOND STREET looked potentially class when bolting up on debut at Doncaster and is the pick of Harry Skelton. Connections saddled the winner of this race last year, so this has probably been a target and he’s a serious candidate in a competitive renewal.
Tips: DIAMOND STREET
16.10 John Haine Memorial Handicap Chase
It’s about time KOTMASK returned to winning ways. He often makes mistakes but did manage to finish a good second over C&D last time out and a repeat showing might suffice. He’s only a pound above his last winning mark and will have conditions to suit, so he’s fancied to gain an overdue success.
Tips: KOTMASK
