Newbury Win 6 Preview | 7th February

13.00 William Hill Racing Epic Boosts Novices’ Hurdle

SOBER GLORY has won five of his six starts, including twice over C&D and thumped the reopposing Kadastal by 13 lengths on hurdles debut at Chepstow. Even being 4lb worse off with that rival, I see no reason why the latter will be able to turn the form around, so Harry Cobden can guide him to success in the opener.

Tips: SOBER GLORY

13.35 William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap Hurdle

CREBILLY looks the most well handicapped horse in the field. I find that the yard is hard to predict but this nine-year-old finished second in a deep handicap at the Cheltenham Festival two years ago off a mark of 140 and has since slid to a figure of 127.  Back over hurdles, with unfinished business to attend to, I can see him being seriously competitive.

Tips: CREBILLY

14.10 William Hill Denman Chase (Grade 2)

L’Homme Presse pushed Spillane Tower close at Cheltenham last time out but he had a hard race that day and preference is for winning machine HAITI COULEURS. The Irish and Welsh National winner won over hurdles here on his seasonal reappearance and was a gritty winner of Chepstow’s feature last time out. The nine-year-old can enhance his Gold Cup claims by coming out on top.

Tips: HAITI COULEURS

14.45 William Hill Game Spirit Chase (Grade 2)

This is a quality renewal of this Grade 2 contest and it’s hard to oppose LULAMBA. This top-class juvenile hurdler from last season has looked even better over fences, winning both starts, including a Grade 1 at Aintree last time out and is the one to beat. MEETMEBYTHESEA has won five of his six starts and has won both chase outings, so he seems a bit overpriced despite this asking more of him.

Tips: LULAMBA & MEETMEBYTHESEA

15.20 William Hill Hurdle

This doesn’t look like the strongest of renewals so I’ll nominate four. Top weight TUTTI QUANTI has been kept fresh since scoring over C&D at the end of November and could make a bold bid, while LET IT RAIN is bound to improve from her comeback third at Ascot. FAIVOIR and DANCE AND GLANCE are not out of this either. I can see those two outrunning their odds in what is a tricky race to identify the winner.

Tips: TUTTI QUANTI, LET IT RAIN, FAIVOIR & DANCE AND GLANCE

15.55 William Hill Cheltenham Non-Runner Money Back Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase

JIG’S FORGE showed decent form over hurdles last season and built on the promise of his chase debut third at Cheltenham to score here in December. He will need more to defy top weight but he’s going the right way. ITSEEMSLIKEIT is unbeaten in two chase starts and should go well, while CAPTAIN BELLAMY has a lot of course form and went close here last time, so he’s another to note.

Tips: JIG’S FORGE, ITSEEMSLIKEIT & CAPTAIN BELLAMY
