Doncaster Place 6 Preview | 5th February
12.40 Virgin Bet Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Limited Handicap Hurdle
Not many to consider in the opener on recent evidence, so the marginal vote goes to NEW INVENTION. Tristan Durrell is having a good season and this six-year-old should improve for the fitting of cheekpieces. CALL YOUR BLUFF is another potential improved having finished third at Hereford.
Tips: NEW INVENTION & CALL YOUR BLUFF
13.15 Virgin Bet EBF Junior ‘National Hunt’ Hurdle
Unbeaten in two starts, MILOU DU CHENET might be able to extend his winning sequence. He has looked good in winning both outings in this sphere to date and appeals as the type to potentially rank higher. Even under a penalty, Brian Hughes’ mount can make a bold bid.
Tips: MILOU DU CHENET
13.50 Virgin Bet Every Saturday Money Back Maiden Hurdle
STANNERS GLEN won his sole outing in Ireland and left plenty to work on when third on hurdle/stable debut at Taunton. He’s bound to improve on that performance given he was doing all of his best work at the finish. Harry Fry’s newish recruit is selected to hopefully make no mistake this time.
Tips: STANNERS GLEN
14.25 Virgin Bet Daily Price Boosts Handicap Hurdle
I really like the look of GEROMINO in this contest. The 10-year-old has a fantastic record at this course with stats reading figures of 211 from three starts. His two wins here have been in higher graded company off higher marks, including over C&D off a mark of 128.
Tips: GEROMINO
15.00 Virgin Bet Novices’ Handicap Chase
Charlie Maggs in these silks has enjoyed some fine success at this venue and I can see KALHANDRION running really well. The six-year-old has stepped up his game since going chasing, scoring at the first time of asking at Huntingdon before far from disgraced when third at Uttoxeter. He wouldn’t need to improve much more in order to be in the thick end of the action.
Tips: KALHANDRION
15.35 Virgin Bet Novices’ Handicap Chase
GENTLEMAN BILL was an impressive winner of his only previous start on handicap debut, and although he’s not won since, the top-weight has mostly been keeping stronger company. His latest third in a stronger race at Wetherby would be good enough form to come out on top.
Tips: GENTLEMAN BILL
