Sedgefield Win 6 Preview | 25th January
13.40 Fairlight Studios Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase
THE JEWELLER’S PET was running well when hampered prior to unseating rider at Ayr three weeks ago and is eased in class off a pound lower figure.
He came mightily close to winning a stronger race over hurdles back in April at Ayr off a mark of 103, so the seven-year-old must be considered a player off this much lower mark. DIXIE COWBOY, LARGY TRAIN and REHILL RELIC are also in the mix.
Tips: THE JEWELLER’S PET, DIXIE COWBOY, LARGY TRAIN & REHILL RELIC
14.10 Happy Birthday Rebecca Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
C&D La Zoubida could easily win this if putting aside her latest disappointment but she has to concede so much weight to potential improvers including ROSIE BALOO.
The latter won her only bumper start and has placed on all three starts in this sphere. She should be able to take another step forward and have a significant part to play, while LAFFER CURVE and ROSA DIAZ enter the frame.
Tips: ROSIE BALOO, LAFFER CURVE & ROSA DIAZ
14.40 Fairlight Studio Happy New Year Novices’ Handicap Hurdle
KAZAR FOREZ left her two previous starts in the UK behind when easily winning on his return from a layoff at Newcastle last month.
He won with plenty in hand that day, so I doubt a 4lb higher mark will be enough to prevent him from going in again. Brian Hughes takes over the reins, who rides this course effectively, too.
Tips: KAZAR FOREZ
15.10 Paxtons No1 Caseih Dealer Handicap Hurdle
The unbeaten INDIAN RIVER could be tough to stop on handicap debut so he’s definitely included.
However, INCA PRINCE is 18lb below his last winning mark and will be getting weight from all opponents. His latest fourth was solid, so there’s no reason why he can’t get involved.
Tips: INDIAN RIVER & INCA PRINCE
15.40 Michael & Fred Watson Handicap Chase
SCOTTISH KING finished a good third last time out and should be able to build on that performance with more to come.
He is back on the same mark as when second at Uttoxeter in October and the first-time cheekpieces could eke out more, so he’s fancied to have a major say in a winnable race. DELGANY DEADLINE and TOM GREEN are others to note.
Tips: SCOTTISH KING, DELGANY DEADLINE & TOM GREEN
16.10 Stockton RFC Womens & Girls Handicap Hurdle
KAVIAR WOOD has improved with each start and produced a solid effort when second over C&D last month having set a decent pace.
He probably did too much too soon but he was only beaten about two lengths and there’s a good chance he will be allowed to set his own fractions again, so he’s a key player off only a 2lb higher mark.
Tips: KAVIAR WOOD
