CALENDAR GIRL made it two wins from three starts with a gutsy success in Doncaster’s big two-year-old event. She came with a strong finish to deny Song Of The Clyde in spite of making her challenge on the far side of the track and can continue her progress with another huge performance.

14.25 Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards Challenge Stakes

I’m going to side with POET MASTER over Cosmic Year, who is rated 5lb superior and was last seen finishing a very good second in a Group 3 event in France. This C&D winner, who has a Group 2 win on decent ground, represents a stable that has been firing on all cylinders this season and is fancied to land connections with another valuable pot.

In the feature race on the card, the Aidan O’Brien-trained PRECISE gets my vote. She has won her last three starts, including the Group 1 Moyglare last time out and is the standard-setter. With so much more to offer, this well-bred filly should prove difficult to beat.

An extremely competitive race with the marginal vote going to DANGERMAN. He wasn’t suited to soft ground at Sandown when last seen, but still ran really well to finish third and the handicapper has left his mark unchanged. Back on a sounder surface, John and Thady Gosden’s charge looks a key player.

16.10 Godolphin Under Starters Orders Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

Experience could count for plenty regarding the chances of ACT OF KINDNESS. Charlie Appleby’s participant ran a race full of promise when a close-up third and is sure to have learned a lot. There are a few notable newcomers but this filly looks the solid option to at least hit the frame.
