14.15 Yorkshire Dales Distillery EBF Restricted Maiden Stakes

The Roger Varian-trained THE LOST SOCK should take a bit of beating in the opener. He has shaped promisingly on both starts and was only denied by a neck when second. at Thirsk last time out. That form is strong, given the third Boston Dan went close at York’s Ebor Festival last week and I think the selection will open his account.

14.45 Fascination By Cherished Maiden Fillies’ Stakes

ROGUE SELECTION wasn’t able to justify favouritism on her debut but there was plenty to like about the way she went through the contest and she was beaten less than a length. With further progress highly anticipated, Ed Bethell’s filly is fancied to go one place better.

15.15 Remembering Frank Hugill Handicap

This race looks very competitive, but DREAM DEAL gained a second win over C&D three weeks ago and the headgear that was attached that day is retained. She’s only been raised 4lb and might be able to use that latest win as a  springboard to further reward.

15.45 Berber Leather Handicap

C&D winner BOLLIN NEAL only found one too good when runner-up here three weeks ago off this mark. He is well handicapped on last form and his stable has been ticking along nicely, so the nine-year-old looks set to feature prominently in the outcome.

16.15 Dave Watson Memorial Handicap

Top weight LEXINGTON BLITZ was only beaten a half length at Musselburgh last time out and must enter calculations. His second at Epsom back in June off a 4lb higher figure reads well and he looks capable of winning a handicap race of this kind.

16.45 Oops A Daisy Classified Stakes

In what is a relatively poor contest, BRAZEN RASCAL could be the answer. His latest keeping-on fourth at Redcar was eye-catching and the handicapper has surprisingly dropped his mark a pound. With Jason Hart in the saddle, his positive presence might be enough to see him succeed.
