Pontefract Win 6 Preview | 6th August

14.30 Heb Cleaning And Hygiene Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap

This isn’t a deep event and I’ll take one more chance on course specialist HIGHWAYGREY, who has five C&D wins to his name (all off higher figures) and should be able to capitalise off this reduced mark.

He’s clearly not the force of old, but he finished second twice last year in this month off higher marks and Emily Roberts has already ridden some lovely winners for the yard of late.

This nine-year-old won’t have a better opportunity to get his head back in front. I think he’s ready to register course win number six. He can reverse previous form with UNPLUGGED, who is the likely danger.

Tips: HIGHWAYGREY & UNPLUGGED

15.00 Jayne – On Course Lady Bookmaker EBF Maiden Stakes

Karl Burke often does well with his two-year-old debutants and there’s plenty to like about GOLD QUEEN KINDLY on paper.

Those with experience don’t see a tall standard, so he’s fancied to run well first time out.

Of the other newcomers, PIERRE LE PICARD shouldn’t be underestimated and could be set for a prominent role.

Tips: GOLD QUEEN KINDLY & PIERRE LE PICARD

15.30 RIU Hotels And Resorts Ladies Day Veterans’ Handicap

This looks competitive, but PARIS LIGHTS has placed on his last couple of starts and is only a pound higher than when last successful.

Jason Hart is riding out of his skin of late and there’s a good chance his assistance will see this well treated six-year-old make an impact.

VOLENTI is another to consider, having finished second here on his penultimate start.

Tips: PARIS LIGHTS & VOLENTI

16.05 FBS Chartered Accountants Chaplins Club Handicap

Two-time C&D winner PROFITEER finished a very second here last month. He remains well handicapped despite going up a pound and holds every chance.

ANOTHER BAAR ran very well when second on his penultimate outing and wasn’t disgraced when midfield at York last time out. He’s sure to be thereabouts back down in grade.

Tips: PROFITEER & ANOTHER BAAR

16.35 Napoleons Casino Bradford Handicap

NEW YORK MINUTE looks sure to appreciate the step up in trip based on the way he’s been seeing out his races of late and his latest handicap debut fourth at Goodwood was a decent effort. I’ll be surprised if he’s not competitive off this mark.

JEDHI KNIGHT has acquitted himself well the last twice, finishing third in each of them and is another who may well advance his form over this longer distance.

Tips: NEW YORK MINUTE & JEDHI KNIGHT

17.08 Bet With Jayne – Your Local Bookmaker Handicap

SMART VISION finished in front of subsequent Glorious Goodwood winner Brazen Bolt when runner-up at Doncaster in June and if he can reproduce that form, in this race, off a lower mark from a good draw, I think he will prove a tough nut to crack.

Last-time-out course winner FIERCE has been hit with a 9lb rise, but the way he won that race suggests it probably isn’t enough to anchor another positive display.

Tips: SMART VISION & FIERCE
