Winners of the Week

We take a look at some of the biggest winners of the week as Man City secured the Premier League title with 5 games to spare.

Pick 4 Winners

Two of the biggest winners this week came from Friday’s Pick 4 as the £30,000 pot was split between two impressive tickets. A typically low scoring Ligue 1 game got both punters off to a good start but it took an 84th minute equaliser to cancel out Nice’s opener. Villa were dominant on Friday night against a Leeds side who no longer have anything to play for in the Championship. Grabban’s first half header was all that was required to see both tickets through to leg 3 and within touching distance of at least a consolation, though the owner of the former ticket was made to sweat with Peacock-Farrell making some crucial saves to keep Leeds in the game.

Both punters had two controversial selections in leg 3 which didn’t instill a great deal of confidence pre-game. 60 minutes in however they were sitting pretty as Saints went 2-0 up and were 30 minutes away from securing a huge 3 points in their fight for Premier League survival. It wasn’t to be as 9 minutes of madness demonstrated exactly why they find themselves languishing in the bottom 3. Two from super-sub Giroud and a neat finish from Hazard turned the game on its head and landed an unlikely win for Chelsea and these two players.

Despite good offers on the table for both tickets, these punters opted not to Cash Out even a small portion, a brave call given that Leg 4 was anybody’s guess. A low scoring game looked likely, however, leaving both punters with a great chance of securing the jackpot. It was never expected to be a classic, with Huddersfield desperate for points to confirm their Premier League status whilst Watford’s season is over, with no danger of being involved at either end of the table. That it was 0-0 after 90 minutes therefore was of surprise to no one and the owner of the ticket below had the fortune of knowing that a goal either way was of little bother to them, having 1-0 each way and 0-0 covered. However the 8 line ticket above was relying on a 1-0 win and with no Cash Outs made it was a Huddersfield goal or bust in the hunt for 4/4. Tom Ince was their saviour as Wagner’s 61st minute substitute came up with the goods in the 91st minute to all but clinch safety for Huddersfield and provide both customers with a massive £15,000 win!

NBA Rollover Consolations

A very tough series of results in round one of this year’s NBA playoffs meant that nobody was able to correctly select 5/5 and scoop the £45,000 jackpot on offer. As ever with these pools however, consolations provided some cracking value such as for this customer who was able to take home 419x stake for just 3/5 winning selections, not at all bad for a losing ticket!

£5k Pick 3 Winner

This punter’s decision to play a big ticket into Sunday’s pick 3 paid dividends as they were the only ticket to call all three games correctly. Saints scoring 2 at the Emirates took many by surprise but this ticket had that outlier covered leaving just 11 units live going into leg 3, demonstrating the advantage of bold selections in correct score pools. Chelsea have been out of sorts and badly needed to bounce back from their home defeat to Spurs with a win against London rivals West Ham. Despite being a popular scoreline just the one unit remained on the 1-1 draw, with most customers backing a Chelsea win. Hernandez’ 73rd minute equaliser was sufficient to ensure that this ticket was the sole winner as they scooped over £5,000 thanks to additional consolations.

Pick 15 Consolation

We’ve recently increased the value of our consolation prizes on the Pick 15 and this punter is one of those who has profited as their 13/15 effort landed them over £1,800 from a £2 stake! 7/7 from the Saturday 3pm kick offs meant they were sitting pretty with a nice offer going into the evening. All was looking very well with Sociedad and Fulham 1-0 up against their opponents after 90 minutes with the whistles about to go to take this player to 9/9. But a heartbreaking last gasp equaliser from Maupay in the 4th minute of stoppage time at Craven Cottage pegged the promotion chasing Fulham back, leaving them with no time to recover. Thankfully our consolations ensure good tickets that go close are rewarded and a solid showing of 5/6 from the remaining legs saw them taking home a share of the 13/15 pot and returning 908x the value of their stake.
