Romford tips: Alien Sea looks set to return to winning ways

Syndicate Captain and greyhound expert Cheltmental returns to take on the £15,000 Win 8 at Romford. If you agree with his selections, then join his Syndicate.

Cheltmental: “Friday night might be synonymous with fish and chips but tonight you can add a pinch of Romford dogs on top, it’s a meeting that never fails to disappoint. I’m confident in a couple of races here so I’d be hopeful we have a chance of finally landing the jackpot.”

18:27 – 575M – S1

DRUIDS MIGHTYMAN in 6 suffered an injury at the back end of last year but he’s plenty fast enough on the overall clock to be competitive at Romford and he stays all day.

YOUNG SARAFINA in 3 is just out of puppy stage but she showed a good deal of promise in this grade last week and it won’t be long before she lands at this level.

NO CONTROL in 2 would prove touch to catch if able to dominate early.

Selections – 2, 3, 6

18:44 – 400M – OR

The first Open Race of the night at Romford and it’s over 4 bends for dogs who have not won one before and who where whelped in Feb 18 or younger. As such, the nature of this race could prove a little tricky to predict but it’s SWIFT LETTUCE in Trap 2 who makes the most appeal at first glance. He has plenty of early pace and he’s a top grade winner at Yarmouth so, if he could secure a clear passage throughout, he’d have to be the most likely winner.

LOOSE CHIPS in 1 might move off in the early exchanges which would be a concern for 2. In a situation where they pace to the bend together and he whips round the inside, he’s likely to come out on top at the finish.

BALLYMAC LUCIFER in 3 is a railer and he traps so it’s another threat to the main selection in the run up. It’s possible that DROOPYS CHANT becomes the sole wide seed and may be able to take advantage of any bunching, although he has a bit to find on the clock.

Selections – 1, 2, 6

19:03 – 22M – OR

First sprint of the night next up at Romford and, with 4 railers, there could be trouble up to and at the first.

NOT SO LENTO & KENTON TEN in 5 & 6 are two of the quickest sprinters in here but LAMBETH WAY in 1 might have the plum draw and he’s usually good enough at this level.

Selections – 1, 5, 6

19:17 – 400M – OR

This looks a warm standard so to keep it blunt I can see 4 dogs winning this. SEAGLASS SHADOW could be an easy one liner to pick, he looks likely to lead up, is drawn ok but it just looks a more competitive race when you’ve seen some of these dogs race here before than the card might suggest.

Potentially SILVA HILL and ROUGH EDEN are cover that may not be needed but the former s capable of matching SEAGLASS SHADOW to the bend and if there were any trouble in behind, would be impossible to peg back.

ROUGH EDEN stays, is well drawn and is quick enough to be involved at the finish. BUBBLY CAIN in 4 in the youngest of the 4 selections but he won his last three races which all came at Romford and he has plenty of early zip. This will be a test for him but he looks a proper dog.

Selections – 2, 4, 5, 6

19:33 – 400M – OR

This looks a weaker heat than the previous race but there would still be a few in with chances. That said, there looks to be certain bunching inside and TROY FIREBIRD in 6 was an impressive winner here last week.

That was an improved effort, but he’s only had 5 races so has plenty more to come and should enjoy a nice spin round on the outside.

Selection – 6

19:49 – 400M – OR

Heat 3 looks as good as any but BUBBLY BUSTER in trap 2 is a favourite of mine and if he came away with a nice break he would be the most likely winner. HAVE A BRANDY in 4 seems to find too much trouble when draw out this wide but is plenty quick enough and BALLYMAC MICKO in 5 is still a puppy but has already clocked finishing times comparable to BUBBLY BUSTER

Selection – 2, 5

20:06 – 575M – OR

This first heat of the stayers’ event at Romford looks to be a battle of the early to middle pacers but I think TIFFIELD MAXIMUS in Trap 1 could be the one but the major niggle is ROCKMOUNT OZZY on his outside who can go with him round the first two bends so may interfere.

I’d be prepared to take a risk with him, although both 3 and 4 are capable of quicker sectionals and either of those on their best efforts might be able to land this.

Selection – 1

20:21 – 575M – OR

The final leg at Romford looks to be a strong opportunity for ALIEN SEA in Trap 4 to get back to winning ways.

He’s been running well in better company round here and should have the measure of this field. He is prone to finding some trouble but he should be in front of 3 early and the two wide runners will hopefully stay out there.

Selection – 4
