@DaveTindallgolf‘s Race to the Premier League Player of the Year after Matchday 4.

1. Sadio Mane

(Last week: 5)

Scored the opener that set table-toppers Liverpool on their way to victory at Leicester and that’s four in four for the Senegal frontman, making him the Premier League’s joint top scorer. The star so far of the Reds’ front three and he’s averaging a goal every 86 minutes.

2. Eden Hazard

(Last week: 8)

A big jump this week for the brilliant Belgian, who dazzled with a man-of-the-match display against Bournemouth. Hazard’s strike to make it 2-0 was the clincher and, as well as the bottom line of two goals and two assists in Chelsea’s 100% start, he’s clearly the Blues’ chief difference maker.

3. Marcus Alonso

(Last week: N/A)

Some wondered if Alonso might take a step back in Sarri’s new system. He’s actually gone the other way, looking even more of a threat going forward. Against Bournemouth he struck the post and set up Hazard’s goal. And, here’s a stat, he’s taken more shots at goal (11) than Harry Kane (10) this season!

4. Virgil Van Dijk

(Last week: 1)

Superb for the first three games but LFC lost their clean sheet record and Van Dijk’s sloppy pass led to Alisson Becker’s mad misjudgement so he drops three spots this week. Then again, he helped the Reds stay calm in the dying stages at Leicester, producing a decisive late header to clear a corner.

5. Lucas Moura

(Last week: 2)

The star of the show against Manchester United with two goals at Old Trafford and bright against Watford. The Brazilian feels like a new signing. Not exactly his fault that they couldn’t defend set-pieces and crashed to a surprise 2-1 defeat.

6. Alexsandar Mitrovic

(Last week: 9)

The Premier League’s joint top scorer alongside Mane and his strike to make it 2-0 against Brighton made it four goals in the last three games. He’s bagged 16 league goals since February, more than any striker in the top four tiers of English football over the same period. Blotted his copybook slightly on Saturday by conceding a penalty from which Brighton equalised.

7. Sergio Aguero

(Last week: 4)

Has attempted more shots on goal (20) than any other player in the Premier League this season and three of them went in for the first hat-trick of the season against Huddersfield. He’s also hit the woodwork three times in the opening four games so the Man City striker is causing plenty of havoc.

8. Mo Salah

(Last week: 3)

Judged on last season, Salah’s performances are down from those ridiculous highs but two goals, including the winner against Brighton, an assist and winning a penalty at Palace shows he’s still having an impact. Only Aguero has fired in more shots than Salah’s 19.

9. Troy Deeney

(Last week: N/A)

Watford are 100% and Deeney is a huge reason for that. The skipper headed in the equaliser in the come-from-behind win over Spurs on Sunday to register his second of the season and he’s also thrown in an assist too. A talismanic figure for the Hornets and he’s looking as strong as ever.

10. Jose Holebas

(Last week: N/A)

Watford deserve another player in the top 10 after their amazing start and Holebas is absolutely worthy of a spot. By netting against Palace and providing four assists, he’s been involved in five goals this season – more than any other Premier League player.
