Previewing The Colossus Bets Millionaire

Previewing The Colossus Bets Millionaire

With cup matches complete, we turn our focus to the league for this week’s Millionaire.

We preview the pool where the jackpot currently stands at £2,315,869!

West Ham vs Crystal Palace- Sat, Jan 14 15:00

West Ham meet Crystal Palace in an all London tie at the London Stadium. The Hammers are struggling to find comfort in their new home, with four home league wins this season. Excitement has also been scarce at the London Stadium, with less than three goals in six of the last seven matches.

Big Sam returns to his former employers with a Crystal Palace team desperate for a win. The Eagles are without a win from their previous eight away matches. Allardyce will be looking to improve on a defence which has kept one league clean sheet this season.

I can’t see Allardyce changing Palace’s fortunes immediately. West Ham will pile the pressure on Big Sam.

Prediction: 2-1

Burnley vs Southampton- Sat, Jan 14 15:00

Sean Dyche welcomes Claude Puel to Turf Moor as Burnley face Southampton. Turf Moor has become a fortress for the Clarets, who have the fifth best home record in the Premier League. Dyche has only tasted defeat here three times this season.

Southampton visit Burnley after stuttering to defeat in their previous three league outings. The Saints have been rocked by transfer speculation around duo van Dijk and Fonte. Hope for Southampton is four of their most recent six meetings with Burnley, have resulted in a win.

I fancy Southampton to slow their slide against a strong Burnley side.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester vs Chelsea- Sat, Jan 14 17:30

The most recent two champions meet at the King Power Stadium on Saturday night. Leicester must line up without Algerian duo Slimani and Mahrez and Ghanaian Daniel Amartey. Despite poor showing in the league, Leicester have lost two at home of their previous 25 matches. Leicester’s defence is showing signs of improvement, with consecutive clean sheets in the league.

But, Leicester will be facing the team with a key figure in last year’s title triumph- N’Golo Kante. Kante’s side have been running riot across the league. Four clean sheets from their last six away Premier League games shows their dominance. But, their run ended at the start of the year at the hands of Tottenham. Antonio Conte will be keen to regain a winning run as he looks for the title in his first Premier League season.

I can see Chelsea being too much to handle for the Leicester defence.

Prediction: Other Away Win

Everton vs Man City- Sun, Jan 15 13:30

Ronald Koeman’s Everton side come up against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City team. Everton will be without Senegalese international, Idrissa Gueye in the centre of midfield. The Toffee’s have seen a home defeat only once this season and will be keen to build on newfound form. Lukaku will be looking to capitalise on any error made by returning former Toffee John Stones.

Manchester City visit, needing a string of results to maintain contact with leaders Chelsea. City have scored at least two goals in five of their last six league games, mostly without Sergio Aguero. Guardiola’s squad rotation has caused headaches for many fantasy football managers. However, I see him showing more consistency with his selections in his surge for the title.

Manchester City will be more hungry for the points and this will see them win comfortably.

Prediction: 1-3

Man Utd vs Liverpool- Sun, Jan 15 16:00

These old rivals clash again at Old Trafford in one of the more evenly matched meetings of recent years. The last four meetings between these sides at Old Trafford has seen 13 goals between the sides. United head into this game having won their previous six in the league. Mourinho has found his favoured centre back pairing of Jones and Rojo, making Bailly less problematic.

Liverpool, will be without winger Sadio Mane due to African Cup of Nations involvement. This is a more significant loss to Klopp’s side due to his clinical form this season. But, Philippe Coutinho is expected to make his league return from injury in his absence. Liverpool are undefeated in their last six Premier League games and sit second in the league.

This is undoubtedly the standout leg of the Millionaire pool. With so much on the line, it will be a tight affair. But home advantage will see United through.

Prediction: 1-0

Sevilla vs Real Madrid- Sun, Jan 15 19:45

Second hosts first in La Liga, as Sevilla welcome Zidane’s Real Madrid side. Sevilla have been in fine form this season, built upon a strong home record. Sevilla have won seven of their last eight home matches in La Liga and lost only one home match in La Liga this season.

A Real Madrid win would take them seven points clear of second place and with a far superior goal difference. Zidane’s men seem to be wrapping up the league title quickly and efficiently. They are undefeated in their last 28 La Liga matches and haven’t tasted defeat this season.

Sevilla have been strong this season, but it is hard to see this dominant Real Madrid side failing to win.

Prediction: 1-3
