Player nets £4,972 from £1 ticket in Set Betting tennis pool

One player made a huge racket in our Rollover £11,354 Set Betting – Pick 6  tennis pool, netting an impressive return.

The ticket contained a single line, meaning that the player had just one selection in each of the six legs. As they had opted for a £1 stake, they were playing for 50% of the full Jackpot.

The purpose of Set Betting pools is to accurately predict the final set score of the match and the ticket got off to the best possible start when Roger Federer continued his impressive run through the tournament with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Leonardo Mayer.

Next up was Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Stan Wawrinka. The player needed Wawrinka to win 3-2 and, having traded the first first four sets, the Swiss duly obliged in the fifth, winning it 8-6.

A routine straight sets victory for Roland-Garros royalty Rafa Nadal over Juan Londero in the third leg ensured a perfect end to the first day.

In legs four and five on Monday, the player’s shrewd predictions continued unabated when Kei Nishikori overcame Benoit Paire in a fifth set decider before the in-form Dominic Thiem whitewashed Gael Monfils.

Things were suddeny becoming serious and, with just 9 units left from the initial 2,892 that had entered the pool, only a 3-1 victory for Karen Khachanov over Juan Martin Del Potro stood between the player and a big slice of the prize fund.

The opening two sets went the way of the young Russian before, despite having his serve broken, the veteran Del Potro won the third 6-3.

Things could hardly be more finely balanced. If Khachanov could triumph in the fourth set, the ticket would be home and he didn’t disappoint. Having broken Del Potro in the second game, he held own serve to win the set and the match. The ticket was home and, sensationally, a £1 stake had been turned into a whopping £4,972.85.

From all of us at Colossus, well done on the ace ticket and that’s no backhanded compliment.
