Newcastle Takeover Rumours: Social Media Reaction
Various media outlets are reporting that Mike Ashley’s reign of terror at Newcastle could soon be over with the businessman apparently in talks to sell the football club to Abu Dhabi’s Royal billionaire Sheikh Khalid Bin Zayed Al Nehayan.
The Geordies are known for their sense of humour and, accordingly, we took to Twitter to uncover the best reactions to the news.
One fan was determined not to get too over-excited.

Though another was already making transfer plans.
If the #NUFCTakeover is true I’d sell Longstaff to #MUFC for £25m then immediately buy him back for £100m just to send a message. #NUFC

Reports of shirt sales rocketing may not be too wide the mark based on this.
Not to be over dramatic about the takeover but I’ve just ordered a Newcastle shirt with Mbappe 7 on the back.

Though with Newcastle fans having seen their share of disappointment, he was also preparing for the worst.
And to prepare for the worst, I’ve bought another one with Jon Walters on the back, it’s a win win either way for me.

It wasn’t just those Mbappe and Walters being linked with a move though.
Juan Mata has just lobbed a milkshake at the window of Sports Direct on Northumberland St whilst chanting “Who’s that team they call United?” and then running away from the security guard! Toonbound? #itk

One creative fan has already devised a song celebrating the new owner.
Boom Sheikh Sheikh Sheikh the Toon

Though it’s important to remember that the Sports Direct owner may still have some haggling to do.
Sheikh Khaled’s deal to purchase Newcastle United coming close to being completed, but not before he’s offered the opportunity to also buy a giant mug and a catalogue for a quid.

Sympathies are with the Sunderland fans who have endured a miserable weekend.
What a weekend for Sunderland fans though.
Lose the play-off final in injury time then Newcastle get a billionaire owner ?

After all the animosity, will the Geordies let bygones be bygones?
IF, Mike Ashley has rejected to sell Newcastle to numerous parties over the last few years, only to sell it on the quiet to an Oil Rich Royal family, the weekend the mackems lose at Wembley – whatever your thoughts on the man, he’s played a blinder here #NUFCTakeover #nufc
