Fantasy Premier League tips 2020/21 | 5 bargains you should sign

Fantasy football is a prime opportunity to prove to your mates just how superior your footballing knowledge is to theirs on a weekly basis. With the new Premier League season imminent, fans around the globe are busy constructing their Fantasy Premier League sides to give themselves the best shot at winning their respective leagues. We thought we’d put together our best Fantasy Premier League tips 2020/21, here are five bargains you need in your side.

Fantasy Premier League tips 2020/21 – 5 bargains to sign

Goalkeeper: Marek Rodak | Fulham (£4.5million)

This year the goalkeepers seem quite reasonably priced. Therefore, if you’re in the hunt for some clean sheet bonuses, paying £6million for Ederson or Alisson is understandable. However, a back-up keeper is crucial for all teams and, rather than going for the lowest priced keeper, why not find some value that could still score points? So the first pick in my Fantasy Premier League tips 2020/21 is Fulham’s Marek Rodak who looks set to play a full season for the Craven Cottage outfit this year.

The Slovakian shot-stopper kept 13 clean sheets last season and helped his side average just one goal conceded per match. The Cottagers know all about relegation, following their drop in 2018/19, so will be a lot more prepared for the dogfight in the bottom-half. If manager Scott Parker is prepared to sit deeper and prioritise defending over attacking against the top sides then Rodak could collect a good few points for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Defender: Ruben Vinagre | Wolves (£4.5million)

Fantays Premier League managers will have a headache looking at the defensive roster this season, with plenty of ‘cheap and cheerful’ options to choose from. Crystal Palace have a handful of cheap options who look destined to score points, in particular Tyrick Mitchell at £4million who could be a steal for the first half of the season. So could attacking fullbacks Kyle Walker-Peters of Southampton and Tariq Lamptey from Brighton (£4.5million). However, I’ll go for wing-back Ruben Vinagre to score plenty of points for Wolves this season.

The Portuguese international is guaranteed a fair shot at regular football with first choice defender Jonny out injured. The wing-back looks set to score points from clean sheet and will potentially pop up with a goal or assist every so often as well, given how Nuno Espirito Santo has his wing-backs pushing forward when in possession. With target man Raul Jiménez improving with every performance and Adama Traoré set for another season at the Molineux Stadium, Wolves are expected to play some very attacking football and Vinagre could have a significant role in that.

Midfielder: Allan Saint-Maximin | Newcastle (£5.5million)

The Gucci headband-wearing winger really began to terrorise defences towards the end of last season, scoring twice and getting three assists in his last nine games, as well as putting in a handful of Man of the Match performances. If the French skiller can hit the ground running this season, then he will be a real asset for FPL managers at a very good price.

With Newcastle signing both Callum Wilson and potentially Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth, they look set to have a lethal, counter-attacking frontline and could score tonnes of goals (and points). The former Nice winger is becoming a fan favourite with the Toon Army and, as his confidence grows, one can only expect his performances to continue to improve too. For the same price as players that look unlikely to score big, Marc Albrighton of Leicester and Tom Davies of Everton to name a few, FPL managers can always rely on Saint-Maximin to be a presence in attack and score regular points.

Striker: Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6million)

You will do very well to find a striker for £6million or less that will play week-in, week-out and score goals, however Mitrovic is exactly that. Considering the lack of competition up front for Fulham, he looks likely to play every game for the Cottagers and has proven in the past that he can score in the top-flight, with 22 goals in 77 Premier League appearances. The Serbian centre-forward is lethal in the air, has a natural striker’s instinct and one of the first names on the team sheet for Fulham, a no-brainer for my Fantasy Premier League tips 2020/21.

There is a lot of value in the forwards section of FPL this year, with all the bigger names being at least £9.5million. This year I think we will be looking at a team’s having a forward line of one blockbuster name, one reasonable option and then one cheap rotation player. The likes of Keinan Davis from Aston Villa, Aaron Connolly from Brighton, Michael Obafemi from Southampton and Christian Benteke from Palace all look like well-priced options who could pop up with goal and give managers points for their pounds this season, without making a too significant dent in that £100m budget.

Midfielder: Mason Greenwood | Manchester United (£7.5million)

Finally, a more expensive but incredibly fair priced player. The midfielders section this year is filled with extortionate prices and a cluster of wingers / strikers which means a lot of the budget is likely to be blown there. However, Manchester United’s wonderkid Mason Greenwood looks a terrific price considering his ten goals and one assist last year, averaging a goal every 143 minutes. The addition of Bruno Fernandes made United click and put their focus on attacking and with recent addition Donny van de Beek also set to add more firepower to the attack, Greenwood will certainly be amongst the goals regularly.

Having strikers/wingers in the midfield is a great way to boost your points as it allows you to have more forwards on the pitch at once. Greenwood is a great coup for all Fantasy Premier League managers and he could also rise significantly in value if he improves upon last season, where he was valued just £5million at the beginning of the campaign. He looks sure to be a regular for United this season with Jadon Sancho seemingly set to be staying at Dortmund, so come October 5th we could see a rise in managers drafting in Greenwood.
