David Tindall’s Pick 4 Preview

This weekend we have a European Pick 4 kicking off this Saturday evening, with a huge game that should have strong implications on the Serie A title race, Inter Milan v Juventus. Dave Tindall has previewed his selections in this pool for us here:

Inter Milan v Juventus

Juventus’ last-gasp 1-0 home defeat to nearest-rivals Napoli last weekend blew the title race wide open again and the visitors now have a precarious one-point lead.

Now, they go to an Inter side which has the most robust home record in Serie A – played 17, won 11, drawn five and lost just one. Inter have also kept four straight clean sheets at the San Siro.

The Milan side played out a 0-0 draw at Juventus earlier in the season and have lost just twice in their last 16 matches, winning the last two.

I think this is an Unders game and a low-scoring draw is certainly a big runner. I’ll also take either side to nick what should be a tight contest.

Prediction: 1-0, 2-1, 0-0, 1-1, 0-1

Villarreal v Celta Vigo

A Europa League spot is the target of both these sides although it’s a bit of a distant hope for Celta, who have to win.

Both teams to score has landed in eight of Villarreal’s last 11 home games so that looks a good starting spot but another strong stat is that the visitors have lost five of their last six away games.

Put that together and sixth-placed Villarreal could be looking at a repeat of their last home game – a 2-1 win over Leganes. Rewind back two more matches in front of their own fans and you’ll find that exact same 2-1 scoreline against Atletico Madrid.

2-1 is the sweet-spot and I’ll build around that.

Prediction: 2-0, 2-1, 3-1, 1-1

Celtic v Rangers

Manchester City blew the chance to seal the title with a derby win but it’s hard to think Celtic will suffer the same pratfall against Rangers that City did against United.

The bottom line is that Rangers have failed to win any of their last 13 matches against Celtic and it’s hard to see that changing here.

Celtic have shut out their local rivals three times in the last four matches so a win to nil is a likely outcome and the last meeting saw that convincing 4-0 victory in the Scottish Cup.

The hosts don’t go berserk at home and 33 goals from 16 matches only just gets them over two per game on average. I’ll make 2-0 my starting point but go as far as any Home win just in case they get an early lead and the party really kicks in.

Prediction: 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1, Other Home Win

Man Utd v Arsenal

It doesn’t look great for Arsenal in this one. They’re the only team in the top four divisions in England yet to win an away point in 2018 and this game falls between their two Europa League ties against Atletico Madrid.

The 1-1 home draw against Atleti on Thursday was a big blow after they had a goal and a man advantage with 10 minutes left and Arsene Wenger has never won an away Premier League game against a side managed by Jose Mourinho.

United have conceded a Premier League-low eight home goals this season and are vastly-improved against big-name rivals recently. In the last couple of months they’ve scored 2-1 home wins over Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs and also won 3-2 at Man City.

They’ve also won three of their last six games 2-0, a very Mourinho-like score. Get the first, hold onto the lead it, kill the game with a second.

Prediction: 1-0, 2-0, 2-1
