Colossus Q&A: Eva Karagianni-Goel | Chief Commercial Officer

In the sixth entry in our Colossus Q&A series, we speak to our Chief Commercial Officer, Eva Karagianni-Goel.

Name: Eva Karagianni-Goel

Job title: Chief Commercial Officer

How long have you worked at Colossus? Over 3.5 years now… and counting.

What does a typical day in your role look like? The first 30-45 minutes of the day are usually dedicated to reviewing priorities, along with any relevant data, for the day ahead. From then on, it very much depends on what needs to be tackled first. Connecting with partners, signing off marketing activities, planning for the next strategy cycle or working with other Colossals on various commercial initiatives, it’s all part of the mix.

What is the one feature or sport you would like to see Colossus add? I’m a Formula 1 fan and I’d like us to offer an F1 jackpot at some point. Borrowing from my past experience, I also like anything that sits at the intersection of betting and investing so some sort of financial index jackpots would be cool, though I recognise it’s likely to be a niche pursuit, at least to start with.

Funniest moment working at Colossus? Our office mascot is a small stuffed unicorn toy, Cee-Bee. I once found Cee-Bee dressed in boxers on my desk after what had been a weekend of hard work and hard play in the office, which summed up the mood of the moment quite nicely; time to kick back and relax.

Proudest moment at Colossus? Hard to pick a single moment. Seeing the team pull together to take on a challenge and eventually come through always makes me proud.

If you weren’t a Chief Commercial Officer what would you be? To paraphrase the common saying: if I didn’t do, I’d teach. Conveying knowledge, in any setting, is one of the most rewarding things one can do.

Favourite sport? Formula 1

Favourite football team? Olympiakos, having spent my university years in the team’s base, Piraeus.

Favourite film? Forrest Gump. “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”

Favourite TV series? Westworld

Top 3 albums of all time? Axion Esti by Mikis Theodorakis (from my native Greece), The Wall by Pink Floyd and Roseland NYC Live by Portishead.

If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life? Greek ‘horta’ (boiled vegetables). I know it doesn’t sound compelling but my mother insists it was the first non-baby food item I asked to try.

Quiet night in or loud night out? I’m a forced extrovert (or a closeted introvert) so quiet night in unless you drag me out.
