Choupo-Moting’s Shocking Miss Dubbed ‘Worst Ever’
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is apparently keen to delay PSG’s title party for as long as possible, his shocking miss at home to Strasbourg on Sunday night cost Les Parisiens the chance to win the league early and is being dubbed the worst in football history.
Choupo-Moting went from hero to villain in record time, having scored the opening goal to give PSG an early lead in the 13th minute. Strasbourg weren’t behind for long, though, and drew level through Nuno da Costa in the 26th minute.
Just a minute later, PSG were on the attack once again and the ball was chipped over Strasbourg goalkeeper Matz Sels, who was left stranded as the ball trickled towards the back of his net.
With his predatory instincts seemingly kicking in, up popped Choupo-Moting to finish it off. We’ll let you watch for yourselves what happened next…
Is this the worst miss of all time? ?

The ball was clearly going in by itself before Choupo-Moting’s intervention, which knocked the ball against the post and kept it out. The player’s own momentum carried him into the net, leaving the Strasbourg defender free to clear the ball as the stunned PSG players looked on.
It is unclear whether Choupo-Moting was aware that the ball was going in, or whether he was greedily trying to claim the goal for himself, but his faux par proved costly as Strasbourg went ahead in the 38th minute.
The league leaders eventually secured a point from the match, as Thilo Kehrer levelled in the 82nd minute to claim a 2-2 draw, but they required a victory to officially claim the Ligue Un title, which means the celebrations will have to wait for another week.
PSG’s decision to sign Choupo-Moting in August was met with raised eyebrows, the Cameroonian’s contract with Stoke City had been cancelled by mutual consent after their relegation to the Championship, during a season in which he hardly set the world alight, scoring five goals in 30 appearances.
It’s impossible to know whether the incident with was met with anger or amusement in the PSG dressing room at half time but, based on that miss, he might find himself back in the Championship before too long!
