6 Bayern Munich transfer targets

With another league title in the bag, Bayern Munich have begun planning for this summer’s transfer window. Hans-Dieter Flick has impressed and a contract until end of the current season will now remain in Munich until June 2023. However, several of Bayen’s key players are close to retirement and they will be looking to strengthen the squad over the summer. Here is our list of six possible Bayern Munich transfer targets.

Bayern Munich Transfer Targets

Leroy Sané – Manchester City

Leroy Sané has been linked with a Bayern Munich transfer for the last few transfer windows and could finally be moving back to Germany after he left Schalke 04 in 2016. The 24-year-old’s contract ends in 2021 and he seems unwilling to sign a new deal, meaning that Man City needs to sell the left winger or risk losing him for nothing.

If Man City’s European ban for violating Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations is upheld, it is almost certain the Germany international will be leaving Manchester in the coming months and Bayern Munich seem the likely destination.

Anthony Musaba – NEC Nijmegen

According to German outlet Fussballeck, Bayern and RB Leipzig are among a list of clubs interested in signing 19-year old right winger Anthony Musaba from NEC Nijmegen. Musaba is currently playing in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, Holland’s second tier, but his contract expires next year and he is reportedly available for around 2.5 million Euros. Musaba has scored 9 goals and has provided 5 assists from a total of 26 appearances this season.

Aaron Hickey – Hearts

Another surprise name who has been linked with a move to Bayern this summer is Aaron Hickey of Hearts. However, Bayern aren’t the only club who have been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old left-back. Celtic, Chelsea, Lazio, Manchester City, Crystal Palace, and AC Milan are also rumored to be in the running for the talented defender, according to the Daily Mail. Hearts have been relegated and, with Hickey entering his final year of contract, he is most definitely leaving Scotland in the coming months.

Kai Havertz – Bayer Leverkusen

20-year old German international, Kai Havertz, is one of the most promising and sought-after players in Europe and is one of the more prominent Bayern Munich transfer targets this summer. Bayern Leverkusen’s star player is attracting interest from a host of huge clubs including Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United. Having virtually secured Timo Werner’s signature, Chelsea are looking to acquire two more Bundesliga players in Jadon Sancho and Havertz. Will he move to West London or stay in Germany and join Bayern instead?

Cengiz Ünder – AS Roma

If Bayern Munich fail to acquire Leroy Sané, they might look at Roma winger Cengiz Under as an alternative. According to Sports Witness, Bayern Munich are among three clubs to show interest in the AS Roma player. Because of the Coronavirus, Roma are in need of cash and it seems likely that they will be forced to sell the Turkey international to balance the books. Although the 22-year old has only scored 3 goals this season, his ability is enough to have drawn interest from several European top-tier clubs.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Juventus

The Bundesliga is the only big four European league that Ronaldo hasn’t played in and Bayern Munich could be the perfect team for him. Although Bayern do not tend to pay big transfer fees, Ronaldo might be cheap enough if Juventus decide they want to get his substantial wages off their books. Bayern could do with some help in the wider areas but German champions are more likely to look for a younger solution and the acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo is the least likely of the players named in this list.
