Fulham transfer news – five players they could sign

After a brace from left-back Joe Bryan in the Play-off final, Fulham have returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking under the guidance of former player Scott Parker. However, without smart investment and the 2020/21 season could be a very long one. The Craven Cottage outfit have been a symbol of togetherness this campaign so a serious rejig is unlikely but owner Shahid Khan will certainly dip into his pockets in a bid to secure consistent top flight football for the Fulham faithful. We’ve scoured the Fulham transfer news to find five players they could sign this summer.

Fulham transfer news – five players they could sign

Harrison Reed (Southampton)

The Whites are firm-favourites to secure the signature of midfielder Harrison Reed according to the latest Fulham transfer news. The 25-year-old made 25 appearances for Fulham on loan this season, often sitting deep in the midfield patiently dictating the tempo of the match and prioritising keeping possession rather than looking for the long, spectacular pass.

The system that Fulham play has really suited Reed. Instead of looking to outscore their opposition, Fulham have teased them out of their shape before striking and then resuming defensive soundness. Reed’s success in this system would lead one to believe that the Southampton academy graduate would not suit the high-pressing and attacking system that Ralph Hasenhuttl is implementing on the South Coast. An offer in the region of £12-16million may tease the Saints into parting ways with their boyhood midfielder.

Ryan Sessegnon (Tottenham Hotspur)

Cast your mind back two years and you’ll vaguely remember the teenage sensation of Ryan Sessegnon who was supposed to be the next big thing. Still just 20-years-old, the winger his entire career ahead of him but since arriving at Spurs the 2017/18 Championship Player and Young Player of the Season hasn’t had the opportunity to showcase his talent, playing just 342 minutes in the Premier League, a very poor return considering the allowance of five subsitutions since the season was postponed.

Obviously, a permanent deal for Sessegnon seems incredibly unlikely but Fulham are reportedly attempting to prize the versatile left winger away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a loan deal. Sessegnon would provide competition for new-found hero Joe Bryan and could be the natural left-footed, left-sided forward that Fulham lack.

Ryan Fraser (Unattached)

Scotsman Ryan Fraser is rumoured to be wanted by half the Premier League and, according to the latest Fulham transfer news, Fulham are among the interested parties. The former Bournemouth winger opted not to renew his contract with the Cherries this season which, in hindsight, looks a good decision considering their relegation.

The winger is sharp, energetic and is capable of scoring and assisting consistently at the top level. Fulham would certainly need a stroke of luck to secure this signature but, due to how unpredictable this season’s transfer window is shaping up to be due to COVID-19, nothing is off the cards.

Daniel Sturridge (Free Agent)

A contraversial shout? Potentially. However, English international Daniel Sturridge is still only 30 and should still have a few more seasons in the Premier League. The former Liverpool striker signed for Turkish side Trabzonspor last season in a short-term deal but, in true Sturridge-style, his spell in the Super Lig was injury-ridden and his contract was cancelled after he was found guilty of breaching gambling rules.

Despite that he still managed to score seven goals in 11 games, which is an impressive return. If the Lily Whites could potentially convince the forward to return to England on a reduced wage then he would be a decent coup for the side, even if it is just as cover for target man Aleksandar Mitrovic. The ex-Chelsea player has heaps of ability and a natural eye for goal, if Sturridge was greeted with open arms by the London club and given a confidence boost by the manager then we could see him return to form.

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford FC)

In 2017, Ethan Pinnock was playing National League football for Forest Green Rovers and now he’s being tipped for a move to Premier League sides.  The centre-back is like the new Jamie Vardy, just at the opposite end of the pitch.

Pinnock has been tremendous all season long for Brentford and looks like one of many that may be pinched from the Bees, along with Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma. The 27-year-old is a left-sided centre-back who is very tcapable with the ball at his feet, ideal for a possession-based side.

Fulham’s defence lacks depth and, with Tim Ream more shaky with the ball at his feet, a younger and more capable defender may be on the cards as a replacement. The former Barnsley defender made 34 appearances this season, scoring twice and assisting four. A bid in the region of £15million may tease the Bees into letting their impressive defender go, however it would be no surprise to see them an increased fee considering most of their players are being rumoured to be wanted elsewhere.
