11 Chelsea players to leave London this summer

Who is leaving Chelsea this summer? Premier League giants Chelsea are allegedly planning a squad overhaul following the acquisition of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. Having already spent £38million on Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech earlier in the year, Chelsea are also hoping to recruit Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. According to the latest Chelsea transfer news, eleven players have reportedly been told they need to find a new club in the coming months, as Lampard builds a team who can challenge for the title. Here are the 11 Chelsea players to leave this summer.

The 11 Chelsea players to leave this summer

Willian

Willian is set to leave the club this summer after negotiations over a new deal ended without an agreement. The Brazil international will be out of contract by the end of June and, although Lampard would like to keep the right winger, Willian will probably leave London this summer.

Chelsea have a well-known policy of only offering short-term contracts to players in their 30s and the 31-year-old wants a three year deal. However, Arsenal are rumored to be interested in signing Willian, with Mikel Arteta searching for cheap additions this summer.

Pedro

Pedro has indicated that he has received plenty of offers to leave London this summer when his contract expires. The 32-year-old Spaniard is likely to return to La Liga and, although he had hoped to return to his former club Barcelona, Pedro might have to settle for a smaller Spanish club.

He joined Chelsea from Barcelona in 2015 and has won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Europa League during his stint at Stamford Bridge. With Jadon Sancho among Chelsea’s transfer targets, Frank Lampard is clearly looking at life after Pedro.

Jorginho

Jorginho could reportedly leave for Juventus in the coming months, according to the latest Chelsea transfer news. He is being targeted by The Old Lady this summer as Maurizio Sarri seeks a reunion with his former midfielder. For now, a transfer to Juventus is only a rumor in the newspapers and Juve will need to get more concrete if they want to convince the defensive midfielder to become one of the Chelsea players to leave this summer.

Marcos Alonso

Emerson Palmieri and Cesar Azpilicueta are preferred to Alonso for the left-back position and Frank Lampard is willing to let the defender leave for another club this summer. According to reports, Alonso will be allowed to leave London if the club receives a bid of around £26 million. However, it is likely he will stay at Chelsea if no such offer is made.

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Kepa Arrizabalaga, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, could be set for a move to Valencia this summer if transfer reports linking Chelsea to Andre Onana of Ajax prove accurate. Though Chelsea spent a record fee of £71 million to sign him from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2018, he will be allowed to leave the club on a loan deal or permanent transfer if the right amount is paid.

Kurt Zouma

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is interested in bringing Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake back to Stamford Bridge this summer which could be bad news for Kurt Zouma. The Blues are looking to strengthen their defence and they will listen to offers for at least one of their centre-backs, with Kurt Zouma the most likely candidate to leave.

Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley has featured in 13 Premier League games this season without scoring. With Billy Gilmour being promoted to the first-team squad, it could signal the end of Barkley’s time at the club. West Ham are reportedly interested in acquiring the midfielder.

Michy Batshuayi

Although Michy Batshuayi scored the goal which secured the Premier League title for Chelsea in 2017, he has done little else to impress at Chelsea. The Belgium international has only played 224 minutes in the Premier League so far this season and, with only one year left on his contract, The Blues want to sell him this summer.

Batshuayi’s previous club Marseille could be the destination for the 26-year-old striker, who is hoping to get more time on the pitch before Euro 2021.

Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid and will leave Chelsea permanently on July 1 after Los Colchoneros agreed to pay £48m for the striker. Morata was acquired by Real Madrid in 2017 and will now return to the Spanish capital on a permanent basis. He is the only player in this list certain to leave, having already agreed to a transfer this summer.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Tiemoue Bakayoko has admitted he will have a ‘feeling of failure’ when leaving Chelsea this summer. The one-time France international was among players who won Ligue 1 with Monaco alongside Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy but he failed to live up to expectations when joining Chelsea in 2017. After going on loan spells to AC Milan and Monaco, the 25-year old is likely to rejoin Monaco permanently next season.

Davide Zappacosta

Chelsea loaned Davide Zappacosta to Roma and the 28-year old has admitted that he is keen to remain with the Serie A club. Although the right-back has only played 12 minutes in Serie A this season, Zappacosta appafeels at home in the Italian capital and wants to prove himself the coming season. Zappacosta hopes he will be one of the 23 players representing Italy during the Euro 2020 which is now postponed to the summer of 2021.
