Ever since his takeover of the club the Russian oligarch has made decisions that have ensured that he stays in the background, isolated.<\/p>\n
Matthew Syed famously told of a criminal appropriation of Abramovich\u2019s funds live on Sky Sports News which is known to have got right under the skin of the owner – he is not a well-liked man.<\/p>\n
However, the storm that\u2019s brewing in west London at the moment could have a new hero in Abramovich \u2013 IF he stands his ground.<\/p>\n
Over the last few weeks, as Chelsea lurch from one crisis to another, the Russian has effectively been called out by Jose Mourinho.<\/p>\n
The Portuguese\u2019s behaviour this season has been despicable, even by his low standards. But it\u2019s his blatant attempt to get himself sacked that sticks in the craw the most.<\/p>\n
Media across the country are used to Mourinho\u2019s antics of course, and to a man every organisation has lapped up the Special One\u2019s headline-grabbing entertainment. Not anymore.<\/p>\n
The tide has definitely turned and the pandering of the Chelsea manager has finally stopped.<\/p>\n
As with his time at Real Madrid, Mourinho is and has been trying every single tactic to deflect the pressure away from himself. Away from the fact that he remains, at heart, just a translator.<\/p>\n
The emperor\u2019s new clothes act has been rumbled and now that he\u2019s been outed as a charlatan masquerading as a Premier League manager again he wants out.<\/p>\n
No way, Jose.<\/p>\n
Time to face the music. Stand up and be counted. Do what you\u2019re paid for. MANAGE.<\/p>\n
The pressure on Abramovich to rid himself of someone who continues to drag Chelsea\u2019s name into the gutter is enormous at this point. That and the fact that the Blues are just three points above the bottom three at this juncture.<\/p>\n
But it\u2019s exactly what Mourinho wants. The get out of jail free card. To walk away with a multi-million pound pay off and to wash his hands of the mess he has got the club in. To propagate the astonishing ruse that he is still \u201cSpecial.\u201d<\/p>\n
He isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s see a sea-change in attitude from Abramovich. If he doesn\u2019t pull the trigger then the Portuguese has to walk away without a penny, which is hardly likely to happen from a man who has form with this type of strategy.<\/p>\n
Just six months after winning the Premier League at a canter, Chelsea find themselves on the same points as Hull City were at this time last season, with a worse goal difference and win ratio. Hull were relegated.<\/p>\n
In an often indecent game, Roman Abramovich has got to do the decent thing. Stand firm and resolute and make Mourinho honour the terms of his contract.<\/p>\n
