Sadly, Shishkin will not be featuring but five horses will head to post for a competitive looking renewal with the Willie Mullins\u2019 trained Chacun Pour Soi heading the ante-post betting. In preparation for Saturday\u2019s big race, we\u2019ve taken a look back at the top 5 Tingle Creek Chase winners from the last 20 years – a list that includes some jumps racing greats.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5 of the best Tingle Creek Chase winners this century<\/h3>\n

Moscow Flyer (2004)<\/strong><\/p>\n

There were many high points in the career of Moscow Flyer but his victory in the 2004 Tingle Creek lives long in the memory.<\/p>\n

Having won the race in 2003, he returned 12 months later to defend his crown and he put in a stunning round of jumping under Barry Geraghty to fend off Azertyuiop and Well Chief – two top-class rivals.<\/p>\n

And it was a season to remember for Moscow Flyer, with success in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham and the Melling Chase at Aintree to follow.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kauto Star (2006)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having won the Tingle Creek in 2005, Kauto Star arrived at Sandown in 2006 on the back of success in the Betfair Chase<\/a> just two weeks earlier. And he put in undoubtedly his best-ever performance over 2 miles by cruising to a seven-length victory over Arkle winner Voy Por Ustedes.<\/p>\n

Just three weeks later, Kauto Star coasted home in the King George at Kempton, en-route to becoming one of the best-staying chasers one the modern era. Undoubtedly one of the best Tingle Creek Chase winners ever.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Master Minded (2010)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like Kauto Star, Master Minded was trained by Paul Nicholls, owned by Clive Smith, and was a standout operator over the 2-mile trip.<\/p>\n

He added his names to the list of winners of the Tingle Creek Chase in 2008, one of eight Grade 1 career victories, and 2010 saw him seal victory in the race one more, although this time at Cheltenham with Sandown under deep snow.<\/p>\n

Sent off the 10\/11 favourite, he was given a superb ride by Noel Fehily, with the pair taking up the running two fences from home before winning effortlessly.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sprinter Sacre (2012)<\/strong><\/p>\n

It may not have been a high-class field that lined up for the Tingle Creek in 2012 but this was the season that Sprinter Sacre was at his indomitable best.<\/p>\n

He destroyed the field at Sandown<\/a>, recording a 15-length victory, offering a hint of what was to come in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham, where he demolished a top-quality field by a staggering 19-lengths<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Altior (2018)<\/strong><\/p>\n

As they approached the last in the 2018 Tingle Creek, Altior and Un De Sceaux were locked in a titanic battle, with many questioning if Altior\u2019s winning run of 14 races was about to come to an end.<\/p>\n

All concern for Altior backers was quickly gone though as he put in his customary late surge to pull clear up the run-in and win by a comfortable four-lengths, with the 3rd placed Saint Calvados a further 15 lengths back.<\/p>\n

And it was another season to remember for Altior, who then went on to win his next four races – all Grade 1 victories, including the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. One of the greatest Tingle Creek Chase winners ever and one of the greatest horses ever.<\/p>\n
