The game of the weekend is a London derby, as Tottenham vs Chelsea takes place on Sunday. Both clubs have made a strong start to the new season, though Spurs’ 100 per cent record under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo was shot down in style at Crystal Palace<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n

Chelsea look to be genuine contenders fo\u00a0 the Premier League title after their own new boss Thomas Tuchel led them to Champions League glory just months after taking over at the club. A game against rivals Spurs will be a test for the Blues, however, with fans hoping to see similar thrills and spills to these five memorable meetings in the Premier League between the sides.<\/p>\n

Tottenham vs Chelsea – 5 classic games<\/h3>\n

Tottenham 2-1 Chelsea, 5 November 2006<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tottenham vs Chelsea was rather one-sided as a rivalry for a long period but Tottenham ended a 16-year wait for a league win over Chelsea thanks to this narrow success.<\/p>\n

A rare Claude Makelele strike put the visitors in front at White Hart Lane but a Michael Dawson header drew Martin Jol’s side level. Aaron Lennon struck the winner for Spurs to spark crazy celebrations and Chelsea ended the game in disarray after John Terry was given his marching orders by referee Graham Poll.<\/p>\n

Tottenham 4-4 Chelsea, 19 March 2008<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the most exciting games in Premier League history, the points were shared after an eight-goal thriller at the Lane.<\/p>\n

It took just a couple of minutes for Didier Drogba<\/a> to give Chelsea the lead but Jonathan Woodgate soon made it 1-1. Goals from Michael Essien and Joe Cole established a cushion for the Blues yet a Dimitar Berbatov header and a Tom Huddlestone goal drew Spurs level again.<\/p>\n

Cole’s second of the game seemed to have won it for Chelsea but Spurs refused to go down without a fight and Robbie Keane came up with a precious equaliser, bending in a late curler.<\/p>\n

That was not the end of the drama, however, as Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini had to come up with a tremendous save to keep out a goalbound effort from Berbatov at the death. Fans would surely love to see goals galore again on Sunday at the new Spurs stadium for the latest meeting of Tottenham vs Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Tottenham 2-4 Chelsea, 20 October 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

Andre Villas-Boas will not want to remember this one as his Tottenham side fell to a home defeat against his old club, with Spurs having led 2-1 only to collapse in dramatic fashion.<\/p>\n

Chelsea did take the lead thanks to a volley from defender Gary Cahill but William Gallas and Jermain Defoe turned the scoreline around for the hosts shortly after the interval.<\/p>\n

But the Champions League holders showed their quality with a stirring comeback. A quickfire double from Juan Mata got them back in front with Daniel Sturridge adding a late fourth.<\/p>\n

Tottenham 5-3 Chelsea, 1 January 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

Harry Kane produced one of the defining performances of his career to date in this New Year’s Day thriller, with the striker having a hand in four of his side’s five goals on the day.<\/p>\n

Diego Costa put Chelsea in front but a 20-yard drive from Kane equalised before Danny Rose tucked in a rebound to give the hosts the lead. Cahill’s foul on Kane in the box led to Andros Townsend converting a penalty before a smart turn and finish from Kane made it 4-1.<\/p>\n

Eden Hazard sparked hope of a fightback for the Blues but a deflected Nacer Chadli strike restored a three-goal lead for Spurs, leaving Terry’s late strike a mere consolation. One of the absolute classic Tottenham vs Chelsea games.<\/p>\n

Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham, 2 May 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

Later dubbed the ‘Battle of Stamford Bridge’, this bad-tempered draw handed the Premier League title to Leicester City, completing one of the great sporting stories of the era.<\/p>\n

Spurs had to win each of their last three games of the season to have any chance of catching the Foxes and, after taking a 2-0 lead at Chelsea, they were on track to do just that.<\/p>\n

Goals from Kane and Son Heung-min put Spurs in complete control yet Hazard and Cahill replied for Chelsea, sparking remarkable celebration scenes at Jamie Vardy’s party.<\/p>\n

Referee Mark Clattenburg had his hands full in this one, dishing out bookings to nine Spurs players – a Premier League record – with a trio of Chelsea players also shown yellow cards. Dembele was one of the Spurs players to be booked and the midfielder was later given a six-game ban for gouging the eye of Chelsea’s Diego Costa, an incident Clattenburg missed.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, though, despite Chelsea’s comeback this was all about Leicester’s shock triumph.<\/p>\n
