It’s day two at Goodwood and Steven Dowler returns with his Glorious Goodwood day two tips ahead of the Boosted \u00a37,000 Place 6<\/a>. Who does his he fancy on the second day of the festival? Read on to find out and don’t forget to join his Syndicate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Glorious Goodwood day two tips<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

13.10 – Fillies\u2019 Handicap – 1m1f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

DEAN STREET DOLL was often highly tried when trained in Ireland having mainly participated in Group company. Things haven\u2019t clicked so far since joining David Menuisier but she ran with plenty of credit in the Royal Hunt Cup when ninth despite being drawn on the wrong side of the track. She was fourth behind Be More at Sandown recently, but was given too much do having stayed on well late and now she gets a good chance to reverse the form from a 1lb lower mark.<\/p>\n

WALIYAK has yet to finish outside the top-two in all four outings and was only beaten one length in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot last month. The form has been well-advertised with the winner landing a listed race in France and she\u2019s less exposed than most. I think she will take a lot of beating here receiving plenty of weight from all seven opponents.<\/p>\n

CHAMADE has been held in two pattern races recently but she wasn\u2019t beaten far recently behind two subsequent winners and a repeat performance should see her heavily involved in today\u2019s race for the in-form Harry Bentley and Ralph Beckett team.<\/p>\n

13.45 – Goodwood Handicap – 2m4f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

As expected – this is a typically-competitive renewal of this race. It won\u2019t be easy to carry top-weight over the 2m4f trip but THE GRAND VISIR ran a career-best race when narrowly denied in the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot last month. He\u2019s clearly vulnerable for win purposes but he\u2019s almost certain to be thereabouts given the trainers good record in the race and he might be able to gain a top-four finish.<\/p>\n

CLIFFS OF DOONEEN hasn\u2019t won since formerly trained by Aidan O\u2019Brien but he\u2019s run some decent races in defeat at a fair level for Ralph Beckett including an eye-catching 7th of 19 in the Ascot Stakes over this marathon trip. The handicapper has left him alone on the same mark of 94 here and Harry Bentley takes over the reins this time, therefore, he looks the most overpriced horse in the race with a good chance of reaching the frame or even perhaps gaining a first success for connections with stamina comfortably now assured.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s second SEINESATIONAL has run to a fair level of form since that good run in defeat last year and has obviously been prepared for the race again. Admittedly – this looks a deeper-race in comparison to the previous year, but he must be considered well-treated here off the same mark including the mere fact that he\u2019s already had experience of this race and his proven stamina can only be seen as a positive.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, last year\u2019s third TRUE DESTINY is expected to go well again having looked even better this year and the same can be applied to Just Hubert who is back on a workable mark and will have the assistance of Tom Marquand in the saddle. He\u2019s been out of form in three starts this year, but he\u2019s unexposed over marathon distances and has the scope to do better with hardly any miles on the clock.<\/p>\n

14.15 – Handicap – 1m3f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The significant drop down in class looks a fascinating move by John Gosden for ENCIPHER who wasn\u2019t disgraced in a Group 2 at York last time when only beaten around six lengths. I can envisage this longer trip elevating improvement from the Godolphin-owned three-year-old who is very well regarded. He was also featured in my \u201cdark horses to follow\u201d post I had previously written for Colossus and I think this race provides an excellent opportunity for him to get back to winning ways. I\u2019m inclined to believe he\u2019s one of the best bets on today\u2019s card. Furthermore, an opening handicap mark of 98 looks well within his grasp so he\u2019s handed a confident vote to outclass today\u2019s opposition.<\/p>\n

MAMBO NIGHTS had some useful form as a juvenile and looked very impressive when making it 2\/2 in 2020. I think today\u2019s trip is within range based on the way he quickened up nicely on the front end last time and he\u2019s dangerous to ignore for the in-form Richard Hannon team bidding for the hat-trick. While CARLOS FELIX got off the mark last time out and rates the type to keep on improving now he\u2019s finally got his head in front for David Simcock.<\/p>\n

14.45 – Molecomb Stakes – 5f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is competitive as you could easily give some sort of chance to all ten lined-up for this year\u2019s renewal. It might be worth taking a chance on Aidan O\u2019Brien\u2019s CHIEF LITTLE HAWK who has the most experience in the race. He\u2019s been disappointing in his last three races but the yard\u2019s runners always warrant respect in the UK.<\/p>\n

Karl Burke\u2019s SIGNIFICANTLY has been unfortunate to finish second on all three outings so far, but he travelled stealthily well in a Listed event at Sandown last time only to be caught in the dying strides. He still showed signs of inexperience that day, so there should be plenty more to come from him. I like this horse a lot and with more to come, he could go one better.<\/p>\n

STEEL BULL is an interesting candidate from Ireland who was an impressive maiden winner on debut when demonstrating a good turn of foot in the closing stakes. Clearly, this is a wide-open heat but he\u2019s a horse with serious potential and Colin Keane takes over the reins.<\/p>\n

15.15 – Sussex Stakes – 1m<\/strong><\/p>\n

We move onto the feature race of the day which is the highly-competitive Group 1 Sussex Stakes.<\/p>\n

A case can be made for most of these but I\u2019m sticking with the unbeaten SISKIN representing Ger Lyons and Colin Keane who have dominated Ireland\u2019s main Group 1\u2019s this season. He put all stamina doubts behind him when showing a devastating turn of foot to win the Irish 2000 Guineas<\/a> and this has been his main target ever since. Admittedly, this race has much more depth to it compared to last time but he\u2019s a high-class horse with so much talent under the bonnet and I\u2019m hopeful this unbeaten three-year-old can extend his record by landing another big-race success for connections. To add further spice, Ger Lyons has travelled over to watch his superstar runner compete in this top-class event and if he does go and beat today\u2019s opposition then surely he is one of, if not, the best miler since Frankel who was also owned by Prince Abdullah.<\/p>\n

Andrew Balding is no stranger to success in the race having won it with Here Comes When but KAMEKO is arguably a much better horse compared to him. He was impressive when breaking the track record in the 2000 Guineas beating Wichita and Pinatubo. A creditable fourth in Epsom Derby last time despite failing to see out the trip should be acknowledged greatly, especially now dropping back to a mile on drying ground which will be right up his street. He\u2019s technically the top-rated in the race being rated 119 and getting 8lb from the likes of Mohaather and Circus Maximus which firmly puts him bang on the premises for top honours.<\/p>\n

15.45 – Conditions Stakes – 5f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

SPRIGHT\u2019s debut second was full of promise before justifying favouritism when bolting up at York last month. The drop back to five furlongs should be no hindrance having looked very speedy the last twice and is expected to go well again.<\/p>\n

MISS JINGLES improved from her debut when winning at Sandown just over a week ago. A few others have achieved more but the yard is in good form and she\u2019s going to be tough to beat here with more improvement to come. She rounds off my Glorious Goodwood day<\/a> two tips.<\/p>\n
