Despite threatening to retire for many years, veteran boss Neil Warnock is back. The 71-year-old has taken charge of Championship strugglers Middlesbrough, replacing Jonathan Woodgate at the Riverside Stadium. Warnock, previously the manager of Cardiff City, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United, will be charged with keeping Boro out of the third tier. Warnock may not have been a Premier League target but there are some big names still out of work. So which football managers are available? We list the top six.<\/p>\n

Which football managers are available?<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mauricio Pochettino<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Top of the list of available managers has to be Mauricio Pochettino, who is yet to be snapped up by a club after leaving Tottenham, who he led to the Champions League final last season.<\/p>\n

Former Southampton boss Pochettino was previously linked with Bayern Munich<\/a> but they instead opted to stick with Hansi Flick, who has the Bundesliga giants on track to win the treble.<\/p>\n

Pochettino has also been touted as a future Manchester United manager but with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer masterminding an upturn in the Red Devils’ form, that door is closed for now as well.<\/p>\n

The 48-year-old will surely be given another big job soon but it likely won’t be at Bayern or United.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

Massimiliano Allegri<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Paris Saint-Germain, currently coached by Thomas Tuchel, are reportedly keeping tabs on Massimiliano Allegri who has been out of work since surprisingly leaving Juventus a year ago.<\/p>\n

Allegri, a five-time Serie A winner with Juve, has long been linked with a move to the Premier League. There has been lots of speculation the Italian has been learning English in preparation.<\/p>\n

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said that he approached Allegri about taking over after the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti late last year but Gennaro Gattuso got the job.<\/p>\n

Sam Allardyce<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A polar opposite to Allegri, it is perhaps a surprise to see Sam Allardyce is still out of work. Any club in danger of relegation asking which football managers<\/a> are available will inevitably consider the Englishman owing to his record in such situations.<\/p>\n

Without a job since leaving Everton in 2018, Allardyce is now widely regarded as a firefighter due to his vast expertise at steering clubs away from relegation danger. Indeed, he famously has never suffered relegation from the Premier League.<\/p>\n

Allardyce, who led England for a single game<\/a>, has been linked with a return to West Ham, by some of their fans on social media at least, due to their recent struggles under David Moyes.<\/p>\n

Luciano Spalletti<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Back to Italy with another man regularly linked with Premier League jobs, Luciano Spalletti.<\/p>\n

Without work since leaving Inter last year, ex-Roma coach Spalletti is said to be among the managers on the radar of Newcastle United should their long-mooted takeover go through.<\/p>\n

The only time Spalletti has previously worked as a manager outside of Italy was a successful spell with Zenit St. Petersburg. He won back-to-back Russian Premier League titles there.<\/p>\n

Marcelino<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Another out of work manager sure to be in demand in the coming months is Marcelino, who made headlines when he left Valencia last year after his relationship with the club’s board broke down.<\/p>\n

His departure came only a short time after he led the club to glory in the Copa del Rey.<\/p>\n

Marcelino was recently linked with a move to Real Betis, who sacked their coach Rubi this month. Racing<\/a> Santander, Sevilla and Villarreal are among the former clubs on Marcelino’s CV.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ralf Rangnick<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Considered one of the deepest thinkers in the game, Ralf Rangnick isn’t exactly unemployed as he is currently head of sport and development at Red Bull GmbH, the owners owner of RB Leipzig and Salzburg.<\/p>\n

However, the ex-Schalke and Hoffenheim coach is said to be ready to return to the dugout, with strong rumours building that he could be appointed by AC Milan in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

That would come as news to Stefano Pioli, who is currently in charge of the Rossoneri. It has been claimed Rangnick could double up as both head coach and technical director at San Siro.<\/p>\n
