Leopardstown betting preview<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

13.00 – Fillies Maiden\u2019 – 1m2f<\/h3>\n

A tricky looking contest to begin the Leopardstown betting preview but the experienced BRINJAL should take plenty of beating. She is a daughter of the high-class Kingman and showed signs of promise on her first two starts on the AW. She could only finish fourth when odds-on favourite last time out but she most likely would have won with a clear run and there is plenty more to come from her this season representing Colin Keane and Ger Lyons.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Aidan O\u2019Brien runs four in the race and I quite like ENNISTYMON ridden by Seamie Heffernan. She has a high-class pedigree and ran a race full of promise when keeping on the finish 7th of 15 at the Curragh last time over 7f. She would\u2019ve finished much closer if she hadn\u2019t been denied a clear run at a crucial stage. The filly hasn\u2019t been seen since but if she is ready to roll after a long time off the track you would like to think she has the ability to play a leading role over this extended trip.<\/p>\n

Aidan O\u2019Brien\u2019s other runner PROSE is worth an interest. She kept on to be nearest the finish on debut when eighth of 12 at Dundalk last time out and this much longer trip promises to suit. Wayne Lordan remains in the saddle so this daughter of the high-class Galileo should be competitive.<\/p>\n

13.30 – Maiden – 1m2f<\/h3>\n

Another tough race to digest based on the majority of the field yet to run or had limited runs. However, I think the experienced Aidan O\u2019Brien runners have the edge in the race starting with TIGER MOTH who finished a good third on debut for Aidan O\u2019Brien and should improve from that effort here.<\/p>\n

The stable also runs DAWN PATROL who finished a good fourth on debut behind the smart Sunchart and is the choice of Seamie Heffernan. Finally, ORDER OF AUSTRALIA is the stables third runner. He finished a nice fifth on debut without threatening to win over 1m and being the son of the top-class middle distance horse Australia, he should play a major part in the finish.<\/p>\n

14.00 – Derby Trial (Group 3) – 1m2f<\/h3>\n

This race promises to be decent, and I am taking a chance on two completely unexposed horses who have a leading chance. The price of BABY ZEUS is wrong. He did plenty wrong on debut but still managed to get the job done to beat the well-regarded Arthur\u2019s Kingdom who is currently 33\/1 for the Epsom Derby. Baby Zeus finished a good second last time out despite losing all chance in the stalls so if he can overcome the stall problem here over this longer trip, I can see him going well.<\/p>\n

SUNCHART made a promising debut to be beaten under two lengths when second behind the odds-on favourite Tango. He fulfilled that promise when trouncing his opposition easily last time by four lengths when stepped up to 1m1f. Tomorrow\u2019s race is much deeper but he has so far looked above average from what I have seen of him and the extra furlong will be perfect.<\/p>\n

14.30 – Fillies\u2019 Stakes (Group 3) – 7f<\/h3>\n

Joseph O\u2019Brien has a nice filly in the shape of BROOK ON FIFTH who won a big-field maiden at the Curragh and was then pitched into Group 3 company over 1m back there two weeks later. She ended up finishing a creditable fourth behind three experienced smart fillies. That was a smart performance considering all the negatives she had to overcome, and the form has worked out extremely well. I think she is a massive player in tomorrow\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

Ger Lyons has the smart PEACE CHARTER who was a good winner on debut beating the smart So Wonderful (good form) before packing twice in Group 3 and Group 2 company with the latest of those behind the Irish 1000 Guineas\u2019 favourite Albigna. She was only fourth when last seen but a long enough break will have done her the world of good and she is the choice of Colin Keane over stablemate French Rain.<\/p>\n

15.00 – Listed Stakes – 7f<\/h3>\n

It is tough to oppose YEAR OF THE TIGER who competed with some of the finest juveniles last season, including the high-class dual Group 1 winner and 2000 Guineas winner Kameko when third behind that rival at Newcastle. The drop back to 7 furlongs looks fine for him so he must have strong claims of winning this being the clear top rated at 110 dropping down in grade with Seamie Heffernan riding.<\/p>\n

15.30 – Handicap – 7f<\/h3>\n

CAPEL AT DAWN showed a lot of promise early last season and although she failed to get involved on her next two starts when only seventh, she looks well treated off her current mark and I am quite hopeful she makes an impact here although the draw could have been kinder to her.<\/p>\n

John Oxx has a fair strike-rate at this track and IORONTA has run well enough in her previous three starts to suggest she is particularly well-treated for handicap debut in this event. The step back up in trip should suit and being drawn nicely in stall 11, I wouldn\u2019t at all surprised to see her involved at the finish<\/p>\n

FUNNY LITTLE WAYS finally got her head in front last time by a comfortable three lengths and despite being 10lb higher here, she had enough in hand to suggest she is more than capable of handling that mark providing she is just as effective on the turf.<\/p>\n
