{"id":28907,"date":"2020-04-25T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-25T09:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.colossusbets.com\/blog\/?p=28907"},"modified":"2023-05-24T13:13:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-24T12:13:16","slug":"michael-smith-pdc-home-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colossusbets.com\/blog\/michael-smith-pdc-home-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Smith fears animals running riot on PDC Home Tour debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Colossus launch PDC Home Tour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colossusbets.com\/pools\/sports\/darts?utm_source=Blog_Feature&amp;utm_medium=Colossus&amp;utm_campaign=NA&amp;utm_term=NA&amp;utm_content=NA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pools<\/a>, Phil Lanning caught up with darts superstar Michael Smith ahead of his PDC Home Tour debut.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Michael Smith admits he fears his dogs and rabbits \u201crunning riot\u201d when he makes his PDC Home Tour debut.<\/p>\n<p>The World\u00a0No.5 is a darting Dr\u00a0Doolittle with a mini zoo at his St.Helens abode which he shares with wife Dagmara and oche stars of future kids Junior and Kasper.<\/p>\n<p>Bully Boy, 29, joins the PDC Home Tour online streaming event tonight against Martijn Kleermaker, Harry Ward and Matt Clark.<\/p>\n<p>But he revealed he\u2019ll have to put his animals into their own lockdown, saying: \u201cWe have five dogs, three rabbits, two tortoises and all my Koi fish. So I\u2019ve got to lock away the dogs and put the rabbits outside because I can\u2019t have them running riot in the games room when I\u2019m playing!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy boys would definitely want to be in on it too, so Junior will probably be in the games room with me when it\u2019s live. I\u2019ve got to lock all the kids and animals away in my own mini lockdown, it\u2019s going to be hard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be weird playing on my own. There\u2019s nothing there, you are trying to be competitive but there\u2019s no one standing in front of you, just waiting to hear them shout their score. I\u2019ve been playing online darts every day now anyway, so I\u2019ve got used to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith also believes darts could need <a href=\"https:\/\/www.colossusbets.com\/blog\/football-var-explained\/\">VAR<\/a> after a cheat storm broke out during a Jelle Klaasen online clash\u00a0on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>The former BDO world champion took out a 70 finish with tops but social media kicked off as some people claimed his dart didn\u2019t go in the double 20.\u00a0 With poor camera quality, it was hard to tell if it had gone in or not. The Darts Regulation Authority confirmed they would not be investigating the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Smith added: \u201cIt does bother me because players are cheating themselves more than anyone, it\u2019s not a proper game. You rely on your talent that\u2019s why I\u2019ve never done tactics when I\u2019m playing proper. If your talent\u2019s not good enough, it\u2019s not good enough.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think tactics are cheating. Other players can try to put you off, that\u2019s classed as cheating in my eyes. They are going to have to get VAR. Last night with Jelle because his camera was a bit poor, everyone went mad saying he\u2019s cheating and he had to try and explain himself.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow he\u2019s going to get abuse for so long it\u2019s going to be even worse. Now even when we go back playing everyone will be watching him closely. When you hear game shot, players will be double checking what\u2019s he got and that\u2019s unfair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith has also been raising money for his local hospital in St.Helens and personally delivering food and drink to frontline workers.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cIf we donated it, the real frontline workers won\u2019t see it. Every other day we are going to Costco and bulk buying protein bars and drinks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe then drop them off directly to NHS hospital in St.Helens front door so all the key workers have go that food and drink waiting for them. We\u00a0did that yesterday with \u00a3600 worth of stuff. I\u2019ve still got \u00a34,400 left.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI raised the money by doing two days of live stream playing people for \u00a310 best of three, \u00a320 best of five. I then did one raffle with Paul Gallagher from Preston North End and also with Daryl Clark from Warrington rugby league. I also did two raffles with all my stuff, signed shirts which went over \u00a31,100 both times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not enough money for what the NHS need but it\u2019s the least we can do at this moment in time to try and do something good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Despite most of the world\u2019s sport currently on hold, we\u2019ve still got football, darts, eSports and trotting pools available.
