Peter Wright has admitted he\u2019d love to be the PDC Home Tour champion. The World Champion is the headline star of the opening night of the PDC Home Tour, which starts on Friday night, where he will compete alongside Jamie Lewis, Peter Jacques and Niels Zonneveld.<\/p>\n

Wright said: \u201cWe are stepping into the unknown. It\u2019s definitely going to very different that\u2019s for sure.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s really good that we get to do something competitive during this crisis. I\u2019ve been practising with Dimitri van den Bergh but this should be even more interesting. I don\u2019t think anyone really knows how it\u2019s going to go. But we\u2019ll do our best to put on a show and make it interesting.”<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course I want to win it. No player enters into any competition anywhere without wanting to win it. It would be nice to win a unique tournament. Let\u2019s hope we don\u2019t have to have another lockdown ever again, so this event would be a one-off. I could be the only ever World Champion and lockdown \u2018At Home\u2019 World Champion in the same year”<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously we\u2019ll just see how it goes. Sometimes you find that an unlikely player settles into a different tournament set-up like this. A new star might even be born.”<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps the biggest question is whether I\u2019ll get my hair done for \u2018At Home\u2019 darts. People will have to watch to find out!\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a strong start to PDC Home Tour, with Wright joined by former World Championship semi-finalist Lewis as well as Jacques, a two-time Challenge tour event winner, and Zonneveld, a 2018 Development Tour champ.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no doubt the PDC Home Tour is a great opportunity for one of the lesser known names in the world rankings to make a name for themselves.<\/p>\n

It will be night one of 32 successive nights of action streamed on PDC TV, which is free for all viewers on their website.<\/p>\n

A nightly league format will see all four competitors play each other once in matches played over the best of nine legs, with a winner crowned each night.<\/p>\n

Following the conclusion of the initial 32 nights of league phase action, the 32 group winners will advance to the second phase of the PDC Home Tour.<\/p>\n

With each night\u2019s action commencing at 7.30pm, commentator Dan Dawson will be on hand to talk through proceedings, which will also include live score graphics on screen.<\/p>\n

Fellow former world champion Rob Cross is aiming to be part of the PDC Home Tour event in early May. The PDC are producing a mammoth effort to make sure 128 players have robust WiFi to play live at home for the 32 successive nights of group stages.<\/p>\n

Cross said: \u201cI\u2019m working very hard to get my dart room sorted. It\u2019s outside so we just need to make sure the signal is strong. I\u2019m sure we can sort that.\u201d<\/p>\n
