Spurs appoint Mourinho: Best Twitter reactions

If Twitter had already erupted when Spurs announced that they had fired Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday night, their unveiling of Jose Mourinho as his replacement on Wednesday morning sent it into meltdown. Here are the best reactions that we unearthed.

As the rumours swirled that Jose Mourinho could be in line to replace Pochettino, Chelsea fans weren’t happy.

One suggested that they will lose all respect for the Portuguese should he make the move.

So when the inevitable occurred a few hours later…

…it was an undeniable source of amusement to many.

Always a divisive figure, Mourinho’s appointment actually managed to upset Chelsea and Tottenham fans, with #MourinhoOut soon trending.

Although one Spurs fan seemed in better spirits.

Piers Morgan offered one possible explanation for the Spurs fans’ anger.

All eyes will be on Mourinho’s introduction as Tottenham boss this weekend.

And, given his propensity for defensive formations, will we see a shift in mentality for Spurs?

One question is how the free-spending Mourinho will work alongside the notoriously frugal Daniel Levy.

The suspicion is that the pair might clash.

David Brent made an appearance.

A couple of appearances, actually.

Although one transfer would certainly make sense.

Especially after Gareth Bale had been in the news himself this week.

Desperate Arsenal fans had been hoping to lure Pochettino to the Emirates, although based on his previous comments it seems unlikely.

Although never say never.

Last word goes to Harry Redknapp who doesn’t think the Arsenal fans would have much trouble adjusting to Pochettino. Never change Harry.
