Sensational scenes as player scoops £8,832 in Win 6 pool at The Curragh

A Colossus player enjoyed an incredible evening at the Curragh on Thursday, sensationally turning a £4 stake into £8,832.59 in the Win 6 pool.

With just two lines on the ticket, they only had a single hope in each of the first two races but got off to the perfect start when Windracer managed to hold off the 11/10 favourite, Love, to take the opener.

Opting to back the favourite in the 18:15, Armory justified his 4/7 opening price by quickening to lead within the final 100 yards and racing home in first place.

The third race was the only one in which the player had opted for a second selection, seemingly undecided whether Perfect Tapatino or War Diary would win. Perfect Tapatino proved a disastrous selection, finishing ninth out of the ten runners, with only the 7/2 favourite, The Mouse Doctor, behind him.

However, War Diary was a completely different story. Despite an innocuous start, he moved up to challenge the lead within the final furlong and it eventually became a literal two horse race between him and Sea The Lion. War Diary stayed on well though and just nicked it on the line to make it three out of three for the player!

The ticket was down to a single line, with just one selection in each of the final three races. In the fourth leg it was the turn of 12/1 poke Kattani to shine and shine he certainly did, asserting his dominance within the final furlong to add yet another victory.

As the penultimate leg, the 19:45, approached, things were getting serious. From 2,939 units, only 7.75 remained and if the player could successfully pull two more winners out of the hat, they would be guaranteed a fantastic return.

El Astronaute was up first and the 7/1 shot was a co-favourite of three from a 16-runner field. He led from very early on and never looked as though he would waver, holding on to make it five!

It would all come down to the final leg and the player, for only the second time on the day, had selected the favourite, backing 15/8 Trossachs. With a tricky looking 19-runner field to finish the day, it wouldn’t be easy.

Racing in seventh place in the early part of the race, Trossachs was biding his time and decided to make his move when two and a half furlongs out. He took the lead and, though De Name Escapes Me initially looked like contesting things, it didn’t last. With a furlong left, Trossachs asserted himself and raced into a commanding lead, eventually cruising home with multiple lengths to spare.

The player had done it, a phenomenal six wins from six with some very tricky races to navigate and just two favourites landing. 99.9% of the initial units had fallen by the wayside and just two remained. As such the player landed a staggering £8,832 winning dividend for their efforts. Well done on an incredible win!
