QPR’s first away win nets punter over £3.7k from a £3 bet
Everyone loves a midweek feast of Premier League fixtures and none more so than this Colossus punter who managed to turn their £3 Pick 4 ticket into over £3.7k!
Placing their 5x3x1x1 perm on Tuesday evening, a brace of 2 nil victories were required in legs one and two for progression into Wednesday’s games and things got off to a lovely start when Leroy Fer nodded in after 17 minutes for QPR who were seeking their first away win of the season at the 12th attempt.
5 minutes later down at Hull, Nikica Jelavic’s 22nd minute deflected opener fired Hull into a 1 nil lead and in the process put this punter in a very nice position nearing the break, a very nice position that was soon to become even better – a fine hooked volley from Bobby Zamora just before the half time oranges meant that a fractional cash in could have been exercised before kick off in the 2nd half. What do you do? Cash a bit in or hold firm and watch the score updates through your hands for the duration of the second half?
Only the brave would place their faith in QPR keeping a second half clean sheet and grabbing their first away win, but they did and Hull’s full debut man Dame N’Doye earned himself a Christmas card at the very least from our punter as his 74th minute close range finish cemented this ticket’s live status going into Wednesday evenings matches.
At the half time point of Stoke v Man City (1-1), you’d have got a juicy price on City racking up an AOA (Any Other Away) win. They hadn’t won at Stoke since 1999 and were seeking only their second league victory of 2015 – so no time like the present to stick these records in the history books. You know the rest, Milner, Aguero and Nasri put this punter in the box seat, 4-1 up after 76 minutes. One result needed…
All you need now is a squeaky one nil win down at the Bridge and I suppose you could say, when you need a team to win 1 nil, it’s good they don’t go up too early (especially Chelsea) as the likelihood of them racking up a cricket score very quickly is probable. What you really don’t want though, is the scenario that was unfolding.
Everton were feeling stingy on this particular evening down in London and it quickly turned into heart attack city for this punter – still 0-0 after 88 minutes, they’d held firm and rejected more fractional cash in opportunities in the breaks between play to retain 100% ownership of their ticket.
If N’Doye earned himself a Christmas card from this punter earlier on with his strike for Hull, the gift Chelsea’s Willian is due following his 89th minute strike must be at minimum a hamper. His deflected strike gave Chelsea the 1 nil win required to take them 7 points clear in the Premier League and more importantly for this punter, a total win of more than £3,700 off of a £3 bet. Never in doubt right?
