Liverpool vs. Barcelona: Social Media Reaction

What a week it has been for Liverpool fans! In two days they have endured more highs and lows than most football fans experience over an entire season. Still fighting on two fronts, the story began on Monday night when Manchester City hosted Leicester City, needing a win to reassert their one point lead over the Reds in the Premier League title race.

Before the game began, Liverpool fans were urging their former manager, Brendan Rodgers, to help them out.

And another offered the Northern Irishman an incentive.

Things were going well and, at half-time, it was goalless.

However, when Vincent Kompany popped up with a screamer in the 70th minute. Liverpool fans weren’t impressed.

Despair had truly set in.

With several questioning whether Kompany should have been on the pitch.

The following night, Liverpool were in action, hoping to overcome a 3-0 Champions League deficit to Barcelona. Despite Divock Origi giving the Reds an early lead, Barcelona were still bullish about their chances.

Former Liverpool hero Luis Suarez became a villain in the first leg after celebrating his goal. He made himself even less popular after injuring Andy Robertson, who had to be substituted.

However, Robertson’s replacement, Georginio Wijnaldum, scored twice as Liverpool sensationally won the match 4-0 to qualify. After the celebrations, attention quickly came back to Suarez, with Andy Robertson landing the first blow.

Though the supporters weren’t far behind. Suarez’ tattoo got some unwanted attention.

Another fan was more positive about the former Liverpool’s strikers’ contribution.

Suarez said before the match that he wouldn’t celebrate at Anfield and, in fairness, was true to his word.

Meanwhile BT Sport broadcaster, Mark Pougatch, was confident that sport was the best drama on television. Though, in fairness, doesn’t seem to have watched anything else.

However, all Liverpool fans will care about is the result and will have woken up in a great mood today.
